Four of us stayed here in May 2012. The owners were friendly and welcoming and the location was, as we had hoped, very well placed for the centre of the City. Our room was pretty clean and the beds were comfortable but, being at the front, we got the benefit of City background noise - not the owners' fault, but... More

The decorations are very individual to the owner but everywhere was clean and Bright. I was really surprised not to have a tea and coffee tray (it has been mentioned in most of the reviews and I would have thought it was essential these days) but when I explained I liked a cuppa last thing at night and before breakfast... We stayed at this place in March 2012 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Double room at the back of the building was large and was well appointed, lots of storage, great bed and sofa. View through the trees to the cathedral! Only thing missing from the room was tea/coffee making facilities. The owner clearly put a lot of effort into the... More

My boyfriend and I stayed when he visited me at Durham University. The location is lovely, compared with other areas of central Durham it's actually quite quiet and it's close to the train and bus stations, as well as the shops and attractions. It has an attached pancake café, which has a short menu of sweet and savoury pancakes which... More

I visited my son at the University and stayed here for two nights with a friend. We had a large twin room with very comfortable beds. It was quiet, clean and homely. it is true there was a lack of tea & coffee in the room but that was freely on offer from the adjoining cafe to take up to... More

I found the accomodation itself quite nice and the location is very good. It is true there are no tea/coffee making facilities (which is unusual for a place of this claimed standard). Breakfast next door was nice enough, but I found the service a teeny bit brusque. Almost all of my interactions (e-mail/telephone/in person) with the proprietors were chaotic -... More

The Georgian Town House is conveniently situated in the city centre, close to the railway station in a pleasant street. The proprietors also run the attached cafe. I was only staying for one night and to be honest I was pleased at that. I found the accomodation not quite what I expected from the website, in fact quite different. It... More
