Stayed one night as a couple on a visit to Barrow. Over all it was good, but the hotel has a slight tendency to overdo the design at the expense of convenience. It took ages to work out that you have to push the plug down again to empty the sink and I later found there were instructions on how... More

I stayed here for over a month during my visit, hotel offers nice and well maintained rooms. Food is great, they also organize live performances sometimes in a week. Hotel is very close to train station.

Stayed last friday with my son and shared a superior twin, the room was a good size, modern finish and the room and shower room was very clean. Staff were very helpful and restaurant food was good, and staff very attentive. Breakfast which was included had a good nice variety. There is car parking opposite but you must get a... More

When I was a lad (1950s!) we would pass the Duke en-route to visit family - on opposite corners were two cinemas - the dear old 'collie' (the Coliseum) and the more modern ABC Ritz cinemas. Both now gone but thankfully the Duke's victorian facade (beautifully renovated) survives. Now living in Staffordshire, I return to my old Cumbrian haunts from... More

I stayed in the Duke of Ed late April for one night whilst working away on business, and had a great experience from start to finish. Upon arrival the helpful staff made sure I was booked in for an evening meal as they were expecting it to be busy, the room was clean, tidy and far better than I was... More

I gave this hotel an excellent review last time I stayed, almost five years ago. I'd spent many a night in Barrow on various engineering projects for BAE in the early 2000s and recognised the quality the hotel offered. It's improved enormously since then. The bar area is now much larger, effectively one large room where before it was two... More

Hotel was easy to find, and not right in the busy town centre. There is a free car park (opposite side of cross roads). Rooms were lovely size and finished to a high standard of decoration. We booked a last minute break (two nights B&B for £120 in standard double but think we were upgraded to a superior double on... More

not knowing Barrow and being heckled by some youngsters going into the hotel I was a little concerned however the welcome was warm and accommodating. I was shown to my room which was very comfortable and had everything I required except for a hair dryer but I will wager one was available should I have asked, Throughout my stay I... More
