Stayed here for several days recently while working locally. Coveniently situated, about 2 minutes drive from junction 17 of the M74 motorway.Plenty of off-road parking. One interesting feature is the large wooden boat parked in the car park. The hotel is run by two sisters, Marion & Rhona who are both very friendly & welcoming, as are the other staff.... More

This was our first time back under new management. Atmosphere was warm and friendly and the place was really busy which was really good to see. Marion and her staff were great throughout. Food was first class with just the right amount of time in between courses. Menu may be limited but could not be faulted. Everyone we spoke to... More

As soon as we entered this newly reopened hotel we felt welcome. It is well heated with lovely modern decor as well as clean and fresh. It is not a menu that is pages long which reassured us Marion explained much of the food is locally sourced and dishes are prepared by them using fresh ingredients. The starters we chose... More

This establishment has changed hands again, only been open for a couple of weeks under the current owners. The outside looks like a traditional scottish boozer but inside it has a small but quite stylish bar and restaurant. Staff were friendly, service was good even though the place was nearly full. The menu is very limited though, and only standard... More

I ate here last year and had a fantastic meal, so my expectations were high. Sadly, it appears that a change in management has resulted in this hotel having it's heart ripped out, along with the pool table and darts board. It's now very much geared up to food sales, rather than being a local pub. I ordered the Vegetable... More

Newcastle Brown Ale in the chiller, big tables, comfy chairs and more than ample portions of fantastic food all in spotless surroundings, it doesn't get any better than this! Four of us called in for a bar meal and couldn't fault the place, the dining area is fresh and airy, the tables are well spaced, (no squeezing between chairs and... More

We arrived at the hotel after along flight from America, and hours of frustration at trying to drive on the left, and follow maps. We were a bit off course. Then we stopped at the Townhead Hotel. We were not treated like guests; we were treated like great friends, or close family. The McLatchies are the best hosts, and they... More
