This is a very pleasant small boutique hotel which is well situated for the sites of Bergen. Our room facing over the hotel entrance was well set out if a tad gloomy in terms of lighting, single beds pushed together were very narrow and quilts were too big falling on to the floor. We stayed for 2 nights Sunday and... More

This hotel was nicely decorated and had a very cozy feel. The location, in the center of Bergen, was very convenient. Staff were nice. The bed was the most comfortable I've slept in throughout Europe! The bathroom was comfortable and breakfast was good. My only complaint was that our room (452 I think) was up a steep flight of dark... More

Used tripadvisor to locate this restaurant and it was well worth it, Nice atmosphere and food was good and reasonable priced. Found it the last day in Bergen would have eaten there again if we had the time.

We were a family of 6 adults and 2year old child. We got rooms just beside each other, with a door between two of the rooms. We had two fine days there, and were able to both be together as a family and look after the child in the evenings, because of the twin rooms. This is a hotel in... More

Our first day in Bergen was a lovely sunny day and we so looked forward to a wonderful room in the hotel. 4th Floor, only skylight windows, eaved ceiling where I hit my head on beams, etc numerous times. Did not get wifi up in the rafters, and the staff was very blase about it saying they never had that... More

This hotel is really pretty cool! Loved the history. The building is amazing- exposed beams, old floors, cute little windows but renovated so comfortable. We had a room spacious enough for an extra bed for our son and didn't feel cramped at all. And a cool claw foot tub in the bathroom (and a real shower). Beds were comfortable with... More

First the good points. The hotel is in a good location. Breakfast is good. The room we had was nice enough. Not great but certainly acceptable except no windows, only skylights which is disconcerting. The staff is friendly. However the noise from the celebrating kids on Saturday night was completely over the top and ruined the stay. This is not... More

We stayed in this old world boutique hotel a few months ago. It is centrally located in Bergen and within walking distance of stores and restaurants. The pier is located across the street. Upon check-in we found our room and bathroom fairly small. The bed mattress was too soft and felt uncomfortable. We had a room facing a side street... More

We really loved this little 37 room hotel run by two brothers. The location could not have been better. Right next door to a museum and steps from everything in the old part of Bergen. My room was on the top floor and was the one featured in their brochure with a giant winch in the bathroom going back to... More

We chose this hotel as it was one of the few decent rated hotels that seemed to accommodate children. If you need, a travel cot can be provided in the room at no extra cost. Staff: very friendly and an asset to the hotel. Nothing was too much. We were on the 4th floor which is accessible by lift to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A stay at the Hanseatic Hotel is a very special experience. We have invested all our expertise and passion into creating this high quality hotel, situated at Bryggen in Bergen. With its location at the very heart of historic Bergen, the hotel is ideally placed, whether you are travelling on business or pleasure. The Hanseatic Hotel is not your 'standard' hotel. The hotel has been built on historic ground within the Finnegaarden Trading House at Bryggen, which is inscribed on Unesco's list of World Heritage Sites. We have retained the wharf style and architecture, and the old timber walls have been preserved in several places.Every room is uniqe! We can offer 37 characterful double rooms featuring exclusive furniture and unique bathrooms, creating an interior that is redolent of the time when Bryggen was a Hanseatic port. The Hanseatic Hotel will appeal to those looking for more than a standard A4 hotel, and who wish to spoil themselves in attractive and charming surroundings. As the city's most outstanding hotel and restaurant complex, we want our guests' stay to be memorable and can offer delicious culinary treats that will appeal to every taste. We have several restaurants serving exquisite traditional and international cuisine, a cosy lobby bar, in addition to excellent conference facilities and free WiFi.Our hotel and restaurants, as well as our conference facilities, with their unique character and central location, make for an out-of-the-ordinary experience. We can organise every type of privatefunction, from weddings to confirmations and Christmas buffets. A short distance from the hotel is the famous Fish Market (Fisketorget), where seafood connoisseurs mingle. Another popular tourist attraction is the Fløibanen Funicular. The airport bus and the railway station are just a short distance away.Welcome to a memorable hotel and culinary experience! ... more   less
