I stayed here in June, 2012 - arriving when they first opened for the summer. The staff were extremely courteous and helpful (when I needed an alarm clock someone brought one from home). I used the Gardurinn as my base for some other trips out of Reykjavik and found it to be very convenient. Since I needed to sleep on... More

I stopped here as part of a group trip. The hotel rooms are very basic, essentially student accommodation rooms. The shared facilities were functional but that is probably all that can be said for them. Breakfast was excellent though and there is free wi-fi in the communal areas. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a... More

We switched from another hostel to this one due to its great location. You can walk downtown or to the lake very easily but for some traffic reason, you are going to be the last pick-up if you join a local tour, which is fine because in most cases it won't affect your seating on the bus.

I stayed here on a group trip. The hotel was more basic than expected. The rooms were small with shared facilities. The breakfast was OK. The staff were helpful, and gave me an early breakfast to get an early flight. It's just outside the centre, but only 10 minutes pleasant walk past 2 lakes to the centre. It's very close... More

May be my friend and I stayed only too short to meet any crowd; couldn't believe the quiet and relaxing atmosphere in this hotel as with communal bathrooms it may be usually very noisy. The reception was very friendly and helpful; we got directed to places we like to see without difficulty. As we had to leave for the bus... More

Iceland is incredibly expensive, so I didn't expect much when I booked a pretty cheap place, but the Gardur Inn was perfect for what we needed. it was very clean, the breakfast was great, the room reasonably big and the staff friendly. it is no-frills but it is comfortable and welcoming, and only 5 minuutes from the centre of town.... good, basic but clean hotel in a very central, but quiet position. Fridge & TV included in the room and a free safe in reception. Only downside were the mattresses were a bit soft. Friendly owners. Breakfast was help yourself, cereal, bread (& toaster), crackers, cheese, cold meats and a coffee/hot chocolate machine. Seemed good value compared to other hotels... More
