Spent a week at Sokos Aleksanteri in January. Stayed on the fifth floor, and they mentioned something about it being an “upgraded” room. Cost of rooms are not bad. Service is very good both at the desk and bar/restaurant. Everyone speaks English. Fitness room and sauna on the -1 floor. A few free weights and some air pressure type weight... More

We've just returned from a great winter weekend city break to Helsinki. We stayed at the Sokos Aleksanteri which is one of the Sokos chain hotels in the city. The hotel is located about a 10-15 minutes walk from the centre of Helsinki and also very conveniently situated for both the number 6 and 3B trams. On arrival we were... More

My room in the older part of the hotel was a good size, clean and smart. The location is good for central Helsinki, restaurants etc. Staff are very friendly and helpful, free internet connection is a bonus. Breakfast was OK - a good selection but sometimes crowded, didn't eat in the restaurant at night as there is plenty of choice... More

The worst part of the stay was breakfast. It was very crowded. We had to sit at the bar, which was not adequately cleaned from the night before. People were sitting on the couches in the lobby trying to eat. The eggs were disgusting. I don't know how they can screw up scrambled eggs, but they tasted like mush. The... More

I've stayed at the Aleksanteri a number of times whilst visiting Helsinki on business. The hotel is warm and welcoming with decent-sized rooms, and the staff friendly and helpful. It occupies a city-centre location just 10 minutes walk from the bus/train station, making it ideal for exploring Helsinki and surrounding areas. The hotel has a bar, restaurant and sauna facilities,... More

The room was small but very quiet. Nice shower. Beds could have been cleaner - lots of hairs on the pillows and sheets. Enjoyed the friendly, helpful service at reception and the really good breakfast. Location is perfect - just a short walk from main the downtown area and Stockmann's - it was under a 10 minute walk to start,... More

This is a budget hotel with a near 4 star rating. The hotel is dated and doesnt have any wow factor whatsoever. The hotel is very clean and well looked after. The bar close early at 10:30 nearly 11, so useless if you are getting in on business at 11:30 as i did. No room service or options for eating... More

Stayed in this hotel for one night in june 2011. Definetly good value for money. Everything went fine; be aware that this is a medium-cost hotel so do not expect luxyry or luggage carriers, but this hotel definetly caters for your basic needs. Our room was in the bottom floor. I was a little concerned about this but for no... More
