Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I rarely write really bad reviews but this place is one to miss. Location is its redeaming quality but it is nicer further west on the front. Small room on 4th floor given. Aparently this wasvthe best one when wecasked to be moved. Door did not lock and was told a group of footballers were in room prior to us. It would be fixed on Monday but today is Friday. Not good. Bathroom tiny, dark and the complementary toiletries were half used up. My sisters room was the same. Shutters on the balcony doors made it like colditz. Bed rock hard. Furniture right from the 60s. Worse thing though was the desk clerk. Very strange man. Asked every person on check in what the did for a living and looked the women up and down intensively. Stopped talking when any girl/lady walked past and was in a trance till the were gone. Very unsettling. He was creepy, dirty and had bogeys hanging from his nose. I kid you not. When we said we were not staying the lady manager came and we explained our issues. All the afore mentioned points she argued but when we explained about the guy on reception she seemed to get the point with a gallic shrug. We do cheap and cheerful all the time, this was so bad we checked out.

The Hotel was horrible. It was run down totally and looked like closed for 15y ago. There was too much bad/faulty things to describe here but here's some staff: Many lamps not working, dirty broken curtains for window and shower, no coffemaker or hair dryer as announced. The water from the shower run into the bedroom, the family and staff living on the first floor with doors open, Noone in the reception but main door open all the time. No lock to the terrace, when we lost money from the room the hotel and "Ving resor" denied to check the security videos. Dirty towels were not replaced. They were hanged up again! The room was not cleaned for a week, its 450m to be beach - not 100m. No info at all was given about the hotel/stay. They kept our pasports for 2 days for taking a copy.. etc Would never recommend

In general I was quite satisfied with my stay and I don't really agree with most of the reviews posted here. Yes, this hotel is pretty run down, but what to expect for a two star hotel? Of course you could go pay three times as much, and stay at the 5 star resorts. But for the fairly low price, this hotel is what you would expect. The hotel has a great location, 5 min walk from the old town. Be aware that the street in front of the hotel is VERY noisy with accelerating motor bikes/scooters blazing past all night long. So do not expect to get much sleep at night! Furthermore most balconies are facing south which means they are exposed to the heat of the direct sunlight during the summer.

I shared a room with my friend for just one night, while my friend stayed 2 more nights and they were enough for both of us (the reservation was under the name Christonaki). Eleonora aparment hotel is an excellent location, that is why I wish someone bought the business and gave it a whole new life or better... resuscitate it. The reception is almost unmanned with scattered papers and even building materials behind the desk, the furniture is old, shabby and unclean as is almost every corner of this hotel. The town of Rethymnon has a poor water waste system so it smells almost everywhere but the smell in the room was unbearable combined with the dirty walls and floors. The sheets and towels were clean and the a/c worked perfectly, but those were the only positive remarks. For 60 euros/night for a double uncomfortable bed without breakfast you have many better options in this city.

Bathroom was disgusting, nothing was clean. There was not hot water, the shower was tiny. The hygiene was dangerously bad. When we entered the hotel the did not even accept that we had pre-paid from a booking site. We had requested single beds but they did not even care.

Great location. That,s all to recommend this hotel. Bad state of repair. Door handles falling off, one curtain, blocked drains leading to flooding in the bathroom, no shelves in the fridge, little self catering equipment. Air con not included in price an payable per unit per room! Like faulty towers! Good thing we had a sense of humour as holiday would have been ruined. Very noisy due to location! Anything good I can say, nothing apart from it being central and spacious. Think again before booking and try elsewhere! Staff were also aggressive and freaky! Not a pleasant experience!

Booked this hotel on the basis advertised three bedrooms,as we have three teenagers two boys and daughter who was 17 and likes her own room, thought great the photos that were on here last year made it look like three bedrooms, after arriving there wasn't three bedrooms it was two bedrooms and camp bed in dining area. Bathroom the size of a cupboard. Cock roaches in the kitchen. Just don't like to be mislead as you can't do anything about it once you are there. Reception was never manned. Never never again.

We booked before reading anneabroads review. What a shame. The guy behind reception was really rude and totally freaked out our daughters. The hotel itself was run down and gloomy. The rooms were basic and clean but the courtyard in the middle was full of rubble. The garden view was a tree at the front of the hotel. Glad we didn't opt for sea view! From what a nice lady at reception said I think the staff worked in another hotel too as keys were left at reception for new arrivals with a note of welcome! The location is very good but there was no way we would have stayed for more than one night with that man there!

Reception rarely there. Very basic kitchenette. Bathroom cramped and with mouldy shower curtain. Took 3 days to get hairdryer and TV. Balcony noisy. Maid and handyman very pleasant and helpful. Good location.

Super friendly, family-run with good size apts (esp important when you travel with toddlers). For staying at a central spot of Rethymno, next to the beach and w excellent views from the balcony, there is no hotel that can beat Eleonora. True, there are a couple of things that could be done better (but, isnt that the case for all hotels..?!);however, for the price you pay the outcome is amazin.
