Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed in O2 hostel during my recent visit to Porto. Everything was great. The rooms are clean, bathrooms as well. There is a kitchen available and the staff is super nice. The location is really good with a lot of stores available in a short distance. The towels were not available to get while we stayed there, so just have that in mind.

Great hostel, excellent kitchen, solid nights of sleep but then staff started treating me in a strange way... Realized only later that my Israeli visum was still in my Dutch passport. Stay on guard. No, would not visit again. Ciao!

It was a real pleasure to stay at O2 Hostel. Me and my friends were about to cry when we left, not only because Porto is an amazing city, but also because we felt at home and very comfy at O2. We will for sure be back!

First of all, it was really old building, there are only 2 bathrooms in each floor for almost 20 people. BUT THE MOST INPORTANT PART, I WAS BITTEN BY BEDBUGS!!!!!!!!! After our 3rd night, i woke up with itching and when i checked i had around 10-15 bites on my arms, hands, shoulder, legs, chest and neck. We thought it could be a mosquito, but when we checked my bed, under the bed we found a small insect, when we googled it if it was a bedbug, it was exactly the same!!! So i rushed to reception and they were not suprised and they confirmed it was a bedbug. And they had an infestation in that room last week!!!!!! They said they are going to "spray" the beds of ours and they sprayed it last week! But if you do a small research you could easily see you need a professional bug cleaning to get rid of bedbugs. Small spraying is not enough. But they only sprayed two beds out of ten in the room!!!! They offered us to change the beds or the room!! Of course we immediately left the hostel with a very bad mood! We had to check for a laundry first because we didn't want to carry bugs and its eggs! I had to throw away the things that touch the bed and we spent to wash our stuff for 10 hours in Porto! It destroyed our holiday! Now we can't sleep because there might be bedbugs around us and you never know if you carry one or its eggs until few months!!! STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSTEL, IT SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!!! Imagine everyone carrying bedbugs from this hostel to another hotel/hostel/their house! And they only refund us the days that we didn't stay. We lost money, some clothes and our holiday mood.

+ Located in a quiet district (I think it is important for Porto) near a metro station. Most of sights are within walking distance. + Authentical old-style building. + Clean. Personnel even makes guests’ beds every day. + Hairdryer and iron are provided upon request. + Comfortable public space and fully equipped kitchen. + There are desktop computers for public use. + Personnel is friendly and helpful, there is a Russian speaking guy at reception. + A room for 12 people doesn’t have a lock and always open, but there are individual lockers (inside the room) and surveillance cameras (in public places), so can’t see any cause to worry. + There is a special shower/ toilet for exhibitionists (open window to inner yard will allow you to show yourself to others :-) - Accommodation has been prepaid, but still has been charged again at check-in. Lately excessive payment amount has been returned upon request. - Pillows are small and empty.

I stayed 2 nights here and it has been a pleasure. A warm and friendly welcoming. I got a map and suggestions for places to visit as I love to photograph. The atmosphere is very friendly and the staff wonderful. The premises are clean and spacious. Big rooms with comfortable beds and big lockers. Clean and large kitchen with 2 refrigerators. Love the dining room table made of old doors. Nice terrace in the back and comfy sofas just for hanging around. 3 PCs and a food wifi. Lots of power outlets even by the beds. Fresh and clean bathrooms. The distance from central Porto is a 10 minute walk and that I liked as it is quiet here and a walk is always good for you. Otherwise you are 2 minutes from the metro. You get the code to the door so the hostel is always open. If I come back to Porto I will definitely try to stay here again.
