After reading some of the reviews on here I was almost dreading staying but it turned out to be a pleasant stay. Yes, the rooms are tired and in need of a revamp but they are spacious, clean and airy. We had rooms 808 & 809, facing the sea with fab views. Staff are very friendly tho a bit disorganised.... More

We already have stayed three times at this hotel. The prices of the rooms are very reasonable. Very friendly staff at the reception desk and in the restaurant. Garage available in the basement. The rooms are a little old fashioned but the beds are in good condition. Do book a room with sea sight, because in the rooms on the... More

We stayed at Baia Azul from 25th Sept till 9th October our second visit in 2 years. The hotel is a little dated and does need a bit of modernisation, but it is clean, staff are friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good. It is quite a walk into Funchal, but public transport is cheap and good. We will certainly return. More

We stayed from 8 Aug to 15 Aug 2011 and booked this as a late deal on 29 July. We had read a number of reviews where people had complained about decor being dated and marks on the woodwork and perhaps that may have been the case but it was clean and everything worked as it should have done. To... More

Hotel location is perfect, close to the public and the private beaches as well. Funchal is 30 minutes walk from the hotel, but they had free bus transfer to the city. Hotel is nice but looks very old in and outside as well. The room was big and comfortable. Swimmingpool nice with sunbeds and umbrellas. The breakfast was ok, but... More

This was a late deal booked 4 days before arrival (2 adults and 15yr old). The welcome at reception was warm and welcoming.Good quality information was given to us upon check-in. We stayed in room 715 and were blown away with the sea view as soon as we got in the room... definitely a 5*location. The hotel and grounds were exceptionally... More

Booked the Baia Azul only 3 weeks before we travelled but it was one of the best things we have ever done. Arrived early afternoon and, after leaving our bags in the room, went to the coffee shop for lunch. Sandwiches were very good but very expensive so made sure we went elsewhere for the rest of the 2 weeks.... More

This is our second visit to Madeira we went for the Baia Azul as it was a bit further out from The Four Views where we stayed on our previous visit. We had requested a double room and on the lower floors( I am not to good with heights) on arrival a very welcoming young man took our bags up... More

We booked a week at the Baia Azul on the back of the reviews here, and they are in the main perfectly correct. The hotel provides all of the services you'd expect from a 4* hotel (laundry service, gym, squash courts and more) and the pool is lovely. We upgraded to a sea view room (about £26 for the week)...
