Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The little old lady at the reception of this hotel is the rudest receptionist I've ever encountered. I popped in there to check availability and prices. She talked down to me, was loud and condescending, and kept talking over me. Quite frankly I was shocked with the level of the rudeness - she was horrible! There is one thing I am grateful for though, her horribleness made sure I ensuring that I would not want to stay there even for the best of prices!

I stayed in Windsor hotel for 4 nights during my stay. The hotel is well located in downtown but that’s the only positive aspect. First impression of the staff was not so good, not friendly and my booking was not in the system. The building is very old looking like the 80s or 90s. The room is not comfortable with old furniture and the bed could be much better. The AC is making noise all night even when turned off, a problem said to be structural on the building related with condensation. The restaurant downstairs have good food, but the breakfast was terrible, very basic with no variety. I would suggest you to look for another place to stay to make your stay more pleasant in such a nice island.

It is a very dated hotel. Rooms are fine but very old style. The terrace is quite nice with a nice pool to relax. Other than that, the hotel is quite poor. Rooms are quite noisy from the street, WiFi is not available everywhere, breakfast is pretty poor and basic. The staff was nice in general, but the night guy was very rude. All in all, the hotel is not bad or unbearable, but definitely has room for improvement.

They do not tell you too much at the reception, I just found out there was a pool while writing this review! When you walk in, it is like going back to the 80s/90s, nothing much has changed in terms of room layout and furniture. The pillows are quite thin and the bed is a bit noisy. Breakfast has the basics. It is conveniently located close to everything in the area. The walls are thin, so you might wake up with the pipe noise when your neighbour is taking a shower. You need to pay extra for the safe, which still uses a key system.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Its very clean, I loved the rooftop pool and thought breakfast was great. The choices for the evening meal were limited. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The only disappointment was the room which was like stepping back in time by about 30 years. The beds are old and not particularly comfortable. The bedroom was air conditioned though which was quiet and effective.

Staff was very nice but didn't speak english too well. The hotel has good location, it is not too far from the centre (price for that is loud noises from the street). The rooms have really thin walls so even the noises from hallway woke us up. Wifi is really bad. We had half board (breakfast and dinner). Breakfast was good. Dinner consists of starter, main course and dezzert. If you have any dietary restrictions I wouldn't reccommend. I am a vegetarian and got plain rice. The pool on the roof is very very small. Pool bar did not open once in the whole week.

Acceptable budget hotel but in need of a facelift. One of the two elevators was out of service during our stay. Slamming doors in the AM were a bit bothersome when you want to sleep in a bit. Staff is friendly, professional. Breakfast is basic. If coffee is important to you, I’d recommend buying at a different establishment.

The hotel is very dated but clean and tidy Very disappointed with the restaurant coffee undrinkable breakfast limited in choice but worst is the evening meal. Rice rice rice with everything every evening. I desert same cake every night. Warm expensive house wine No chance of tea or infusion I spoke to the staff and that is all they offer. I spoke to hotel reception but was told it's a outside catering so the have no control. Do not book to eat here go elsewhere

Madeira is great but the hotel was awful! We had to change the room because we paid a double room and we got a single room! All rooms were small and ugly, the furniture very old and ugly too! The air conditioning broke down several times in one week. If you want to use the fridge (by the way, it was an empty minibar!), you have to pay for the key! The breakfast was horrible! We stayed a whole week and we had to eat the same things every morning - scrambled eggs, mini sausages, mushrooms and beans and they never changed the menu! The breakfast was uneatable and we had to buy it from the supermarket! We definitely will return in Madeira but we will never choose this hotel!
