Five of us booked to stay in the City Hotel and found it to be exactly what we paid for. No frills, but no fuss either. Centrally located, easy going staff and a place to crash. Nothing special, but no massive complaints either. Oh, don't buy the crisps when you're drunk. They're expensive.

Reception staff very helpful, some buiding work going on when we were there but very little disruption and handled well by staff. Room small but not a problem bed extremely comfortable good continental breakfast, would return next time in Amsterdam.

The rooms are tiny and low-ceilinged but spotless and comfortable. And the location is unbeatable - bike rental across the street, station a short walk, great neighborhoods right there. Friendly staff!

Stayed 3 nights. They are doing the hotel up. My room was finished that day and it was really well done. Finishes were great, all new fittings. The location was very good, it was quiet, but the cleanliness was not so very good. The breakfast was quite good, not so much but it was enough. The stairs up to the rooms was very heavy, and there was no elevator.

The Hotel itself was fine - the staff were friendly and the location is good. However my passport was lost/stolen from the hotel safe which is unforgivable. A satisfactory explanation on how this could have happened has not been provided by the manager - Even the Amsterdam police were surprised and that must take a lot.
