Shabby rooms, not renovated for decades, elevator 4 has a filthy carpet and scratched doors, inexperienced staff (perhaps trainees?) and too expensive for what they have to offer. The so called "free wi-fi" is misleading advertising as what you get is so slow that many pages time out before they load (128 Kbps) but, of course for "only" 10 Euro... More

Great location, very central! The hotel is very close to tram lines and of course, it is right next to Dam Square, the Palace, and the Bijenkorf. Hop on a tram and you can explore Amsterdam easily! I LOVED the ambience of this hotel and its history. The Winter Garden was a beautiful space and we enjoyed the breakfast there... More

I agree with so many other reviewers that the only problem with this hotel is the strong sewer smell in the conference area and in and near elevator number 7. Otherwise it is great. Breakfast buffet was one of the best, staff attentive - only that smell. It was not in our rooms but had to walk through it every... More

This hotel is in Dam Square ,a good location for walking or getting trams. The hotel is large but easy to negotiate. By far the greatest asset is the staff who do all they can to assist. The cocktail bar is lovely to relax in after a busy day. The dining room is stunning and although seems a little expensive... More

Got stuck on a trip to Amsterdam. City full and few hotels available. For the grand rate of Euro 230.- (without breakfast), I was put in a shabby, dirty room on top of the breakfast hall. The overall cleanliness and appearances of this old large hotel is apalling. 60s bath room with dirty tiles, overall constant kitchen smell in the... More

Stayed at this site for one week at the start of our vacation and then for one night at the end. We were upgraded to a Junior Suite for the first part and then to a renovated room for the last day. Both rooms were lovely and were prepaid. The hotel provided mineral water and truffles for my husband's birthday,... More

Location is great. The hotel feels old and run down, prices are completely out of sync with reality - highly overpriced. The bathroom and toilet in my room felt more like tiled slaughter rooms - easy to clean I'm sure but ugly and not inviting at all. If you're thinking of staying here, I'd recommend spending a bit more and... More

For my first trip to Amsterdam in early June, I stayed at the NH Krasnapolsky for 2 nights and 3 days. I couldn't have asked for a better hotel to introduce me to this wonderful city. The location by Dam Square is truly ideal. Sure, it is not 5 star, but the staff are professional, the wifi is free, and... More

I was staying at the Krasnapolsky for a conference (so it wasn't my choice!), and I was returning there with some trepidation because of a bad experience some years ago... that time they had tried to put us in a smoking room when we had specifically booked a non-smoking one, and had then "upgraded" us to one of their apartments... I spent quite a bit of time in this hotel. Location couldn't be better. It's based on the famous Dam Square, in the heart of Amsterdam within 5min walk to the Central Station. I've been staying in the serviced apartments, which are at the back of the hotel. I'd rate them satisfactory. There's nothing really wrong with them, but there... More
