I was here for a conference, and the organizers had arranged the accommodation. I didn't know what to expect and had not time whatsoever to do some "research" on the hotel before the trip. The room was rather small but extremely tidy and clean. Everything was at its right place. The bathroom was small too. Although the hotel is in... More

This hotel is excellent for the price, and is very likely one of least expensive good hotels in Geneva. Run by the Salvation Army (who knew!), it is very clean, located in Old Geneva, close to much of Geneva's history, as well as all the pricey shops. The breakfast is adequate, but simple, continental. The staff are very helpful and... More

In this Protestant city, a number of hotels are run by Christian organisations. This one is run by the Salvation Army. The rooms are somewhat austere but everything is clean and orderly. There is a communal sitting room where newspapers, including the Salvation Army's own, are available. The breakfast room is a bright and airy place where the food is... More

I wasn’t sure what to expect of this hotel – I expected it to be very basic for the price – by far the cheapest central hotel we could find in the centre of town. I can definitely see why it is Lonely Planet’s Top Pick of places to stay. Location is amazing a short walk from the lake side... More

We stayed over for the weekend in Geneva and were not skiers. The location of the Hotel is excellent and the continental breakfast was superb. Our host was extremely friendly and informative and gave us all the information we required for our stay in Geneva. Travelling to and from the airport is by the number 10 bus which is free... More

Let me start with the obvious: this is Geneva, one of the most expensive cities in the world, and hotel accommodation to match. So, if the Bel Esperance is not cheap by international standards, its prices are unmatched in Geneva terms. We know this first hand, as this was our home city. We have now been expatriates for many years... More

This is a real find as so many hotels in old Geneva are typically expensive and this hotel has a great location to the water front and old town. It very clean and breakfast was varied and well stocked. Night sleep was good, however the beds could be more comfortable. Location to restaurants, trams, city center for shopping couldn't be... The singles are very small (but not atypical for Switz). Small bed. Glassed shower with imperfectly functioning removable handle and head. Very good water pressure though. Bread and croissant at breakfast are really magnificent; also the tangerines. (The coffee is acceptable but not remarkable.) Convenient location. Extremely helpful and gracious staff.

Looking for a affordable location in the heart of Geneva this is the place! I stayed three nights for business. As stated previously the rooms are small but very clean. There was some street noise and you can hear the church bells but the location is downtown so nothing too out of the ordinary. The breakfast was good. I really... More

Considering that a private room in a youth hostel costs the same as a 3 star hotel in expensive Geneva, my partner and I opted for this quaint, centrally located little hotel, owned by the Salvation Army no less, It is situated on a little alley just off one of the main streets of the old town. We had a... More
