Looking for a place to explore two days Florence in July we went through quite some reviews - Villa Agape attracted us due to its setting in the hills above Piazza Michelangelo and the experience of staying with only Italian speaking nuns.
The setting is marvelous - a real villa with a huge garden in the hills. It give you...

We had 2 fabulous nights at Villa Agape. Only one Nun spoke English which was a challange for us non Italians. The evening meal was basic but taste and included a bottle of wine. The rooms were clean and simple with very nice bathroom. The Villa, gardens and views are stunning. A great place to go for something different. Taxi...

This is a fantastic place, not for those who want the facilities of a chain hotel in the midst of the city, but for those who want to get away from the noise and herds of tourists in the city. Ideal if you have a car.
Advantages: Good size old fashioned room with modern tiled bathroom, though rickety small shower...

Overall the main problem with this Villa was finding it. Since neither the GPS (Garmin), nor the random people we've asked of whom even the police could locate the street where Villa Agape was situated, we desperately circled around the neighborhood for 2 hours with no success. Additionally, the lady on the phone didn't speak any English. The room was...

We have been staying at Villa Agape for the past 14 years. It is a little piece of heaven on earth, tucked into the mountain side a 10 minute walk up from Piazza Michaelangelo. The nuns are like family to us - warm and loving and caring - and food is wonderful too!
The gardens cascade down the mountain side...

We spent five nights at Villa Agape in March 2009 and loved it. It was wonderful to get away from the busyness of Florence and the view from our bedroom window was utterly spectacular. The nuns speak NO English, but are wonderfully sympathetic and hospitable. You will manage if you learn a few guidebooks phrases. For four of the nights...

We had a great stay there. The rooms were nice and spacious by European standards. We walked down hill to the center city and took a cab back after a long day.
The evening meal was fantastic and great fun, the best evening of the 2 weeks in Italy and the whole stay was a real bargain.

Villa Agape is a great place to stay.
Do not miss the dinner prepared by the nuns. The nuns are lovely and they help you wherever they can. They only speak italien! Use your hands while you are speaking and they will know what you want to tell them.
The rooms are clean, calm but without luxury.

Villa Agape is the most wonderful place I have ever stayed. The moment I walked through the big ornamental gates, I felt like Maria in Sound of Music as a lovely elderly nun greeted me by name.
Once owned by a friend of Galieleo Galilei and later the Duchess of Aosta, this fifteenth century villa is now run by the...
