Not the most convenient location - on a small street. We found it using GPS. The staff was nice and gave us good recommendations for dinner. They also arranged a convenient tour to Murano for us- transportation over is free but you must take a water bus back at your own expense. Breakfast was okay - the breakfast room decor... More

Stayed here in May and wish I didn't. Room faced an area that was loud due to restaurant and its a main alleyway to Main thoroughfares. Bed was like sleeping on concrete and pillows were stiff. Not worth the money. People here all seem rude.

It is a smallish hotel located on a typical Venice alley having access to only pedestrian traffic. No direct access to water or surface transport. Lack of elevator facility is a constraint within the hotel. Rooms are clean but there is hardly any opportunity to get a view of the outside environment through the windows. Air-conditioners exist in rooms but... More

The service was very good , to find the location was not so very good we arrived in the evening and we couldn't find it because it was in a small street and it was dark if it was day we could read the plate with Hotel Canaletto.

Canaletto is a smaller, very friendly property, in a great location just a couple of minutes from the Rialto Bridge. A little difficult to find (like anything in Venice - which is part of the history and beauty of the city). Rooms are small, clean, adequate, with standard queen or twin beds. Beds are comfortable. Good toiletries in bathroom. Breakfast... More

We were so warmly greeted by the desk staff at the Hotel Canaletto when we arrived early with all our cruise luggage. They held our luggage, offered a bathroom if we needed one, and lots of information about the area, with a map so that we could find our way back to the hotel. When we arrive back at the... More

Even before we arrived the Hotel Canaletto had impressed me. I'd emailed to request a twin bedded room as the booking channel I was using hadn't given me an option and I received a reply within an hour. We took the advice of several reviewers and printed the directions from the hotel website and found it from Rialto Alilaguna stop... More

Clean comfortable rooms. Great staff. Pitfall was trying to find the place, but then again it's hard to find anything at first in Venice. Breakfast was typical and enjoyable. Room was without a view, but was very quite.

Stayed at this hotel four nights. Staff friendly and helpful. We had a room at the back which was pretty quiet generally. Single beds a touch on the narrow side which would have been less of a problem had they not been rock hard! My friend and I struggled a bit with backache! However, they were spotlessly clean and kept... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The hotel is situated in the heart of the romantic city of Venice, in a very quiet position just 200m from the beautiful St. Mark’s Square and the famous Rialto Bridge. It is the ideal starting point to set off through the alleys to discover the wonderful monuments and typical shops which hide all the ancient, fascinating mysteries of Venice. The hotel takes its name from the famous Venetian artist, Antonio Canal, who was known as Canaletto. The rooms where the artist used to live (1697-1768) have now become our elegant hotel rooms. A friendly, elegant, romantic and quiet atmosphere furnished in typical 18th century Venetian style, with stucco work, damask, hand lacquered and gilded furniture, Murano glass mirrors and lamps. All rooms are soundproofed and have private bathroom with shower or bath, air conditioning, telephone, Wi-Fi internet access, minibar, sat TV, hair dryer and safe. There are also our superior rooms with views of the canal or the typical square with the well-curb. The elegant public rooms (breakfast room, bar, TV room, internet point and Wi-Fi access) are all decorated with stucco work and the antique smoothed lime finish, and have some lovely reproduction of Canaletto’s works on the walls. ... more   less
