In Bellagio between the lake and the sky an island of tranquillity embedded in beauty: Hotel Belvedere.At the end of the 1800’s, Bellagio on Lake Como was the holiday resort for royalty, scholars, artists, politicians, scientists, nobility and businessmen. In the centre of this small hamlet, the first large hotels were built alongside stately villas to accommodate these renowned figures. It was at this time that the Gilardoni family decided to build a small guesthouse above Pescallo, on the slopes of the steep climb leading to Magreglio that is crowned by the ancient church of Ghisallo. The guesthouse was known as "la Vignetta", in honour of its many refreshing pergolas, designed for those visiting Bellagio not so much for vacations, but for trade and other business. The guesthouse was entrusted to Maria, one of the children of the large family and the original founder of Belvedere.
