Enclosed in fifteen acres of lush Mediterranean parklands, this luxury hotel is a calm retreat in the heart of the Eternal City, an elegant refuge where time slows and hearts quicken. The first hotel in Europe to be part of the exclusive Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, the Rome Cavalieri hotel is more than just a 5–star property. It's the pre-eminent luxury hotel in Rome, with an art collection that outshines many museums, a Grand Spa that would be the envy of a prestige health resort, and standards of luxury that set it apart from other Rome hotels. The Rome Cavalieri brings new meaning to notions of Italian style, and new purpose to the fine art of exclusive hospitality.

This hotel is 5 stars all the way. My mom and I were treated like royalty before even stepping foot on the property. We decided to pay for the car service from FCO to the hotel, because we were arriving after three layovers, and we didn’t want to wait for a taxi. The car service was exceptional! The hotel is on the outskirts of Rome, however, this was never a problem, as we used the shuttle bus services , or the hotel called a taxi, which arrived in seconds. We stayed in February, so we didn’t get to take advantage of the pools, but all of the outdoor activities looked amazing. The room was very spacious, and the bathroom was the biggest I’ve had in Europe! Also of note, the hair dryer was just as good as the one I have at home! A great surprise! We also took advantage of the breakfast and lounge in the evenings. Excellent service and amazing food all around. Don’t worry about the hotel being slightly outside of the city, it’s worth it for the view, service and comfort. Truly a wonderful experience.

Hotel's Favourite
This hotel always feels like coming home. My first visit was back in 1996 when my airline used this as a crew hotel. I wasn’t able to come back on a private trip until years after that but these past years we have tried to make it an annual happening. Everything here runs smooth and seamless. However there are a few things I would like to put my finger at: -water. It seems like a scarcity at the hotel (and of course it’s not). You are given two tiny bottles every day, one carbonated and one not. I mean, this is a five star hotel. Give us enough water. Put one at each night stand at turn-down service. Don’t be stingy with the water. It lowers the feeling of luxury. -prices for soft drinks/water by the pool. 330 ml cans of water is all they have and they are 4 euros while a glass (filled up with so much ice that it is probably only 100 ml coke in it) costs a whopping 8 euros. -groups. Beware that the hotel is widely used for conferences of all sorts. Usually that means it’s filled up with Americans. In itself that’s not bad as most Americans are polite and sweet but a few can also be very loud and “entitled”. Like two young champagne drinking girls in desperate need for attention decided to do their tik-tok dance in between the pool bar and the bar in the skimpiest bikinis and no one took action to tell them no even it was very inappropriate at this kind of establishment and many guests reacted. -the hotel has some sort of day pass to locals. Fine but when anyone can purchase it it also makes way for some “loose birds” of the city. We ended up being “next door” pool neighbors to someone who had obviously received a beating, dirty and tacky. These days we should be so accepting but we did not feel safe leaving our belongings entering the pool. The perfect part: Room. Nice in perfect condition. Every time. Breakfast is very nice. Service is great. Room service polite and quick. House keeping never knocks on your door if you forget the “do not disturb”. They always do their job almost invisibly. Pool attendants are very attentive. So are the bar staff. Everything here is just great. My mentioned issues are minor. Apart from water. Fix the water. And ps. They are not very good at upgrading Hilton Honours gold even when there is availability. Ps2. Get the imperial room upgrade. It’s worth paying for.

Here for the Italy v England rugby weekend at Stadio Olimpico. 5th visit here but not been for a few years. The rooms, facilities, staff are still absolutely first class. Only 2 nights here but upgraded to Imperial Floor and Imperial Club (posh name for Executive Lounge) but it is posh! Opens from midday to 8pm with running food and drink. 6pm sees the heavy stuff if you like Gin & Tonics etc! Superb location in the hotel with an outside terrace overlooking the whole of Rome and the Vatican....its very special and so are the staff. Room is also superb ...more classical than contemporary which suits. Very roomy and spotless as you would imagine with anything from the Hilton Brand. The common areas and the grounds are simply stunning .....one year I will come in the summer as the pools etc look so inviting ....just a bit chilly in February! Breakfast faultless in terms of choice on offer and the service from the staff. Drinks in the lounge bar very relaxing although expect to pay a premium price and thats why the Imperial Club is worth an upgrade if you can. The hotel is a little bit out of the city centre (about 20mins in a taxi) but definitely worth it. Located at the top of a hill with superb views and stunning staff. Splash out a bit.....you will not be disappointed with this hotel. I will be back soon.

I stayed on a Monday night and received a fair room rate via Expedia. It was worth every cent. From the time that we arrived at the front door, (doorman was outstanding, he helped with my car, suitcase and any other concerns) the customer service was overwhelming. Everyone at the hotel was extremely courteous and willing to provide assistance from the front desk receptionist , concierge and porter. Hotel room was beautiful and well decorated. Nice size balcony. Well appointed bathrooms with strong water pressure. I believe they offer a shuttle to the Vatican. They also have indoor and outdoor pool. Nice size bar for drinks and cocktails. Only negative, it’s a bit far (taxi ride) from center and main attractions. There is a taxi stop at the hotel. Overall, a great stay.

The good... This is a fabulous hotel, with a wonderful breakfast and great facilities/views over the Vatican/Rome. The free (hourly) shuttle to and from the centre of Rome is a godsend (although the location in the centre (on Via Bissolati) is a little vague if your first use of the shuttle is from the city as it was for us - it is NOT between 25 and 30 Via Bissolati but rather the junction between Via Bissolati and Via di S. Nicola da Tolentino - but there is no signage as to this pick up point). The staff are very courteous and it feels like a very posh hotel on the inside. The upper floors/3 star Michelin restaurant are only accessible with an Imperial Lounge key/restaurant booking so nice privacy there too. The bad... This was January and the hotel was very quiet. We had been booked in a room with two single beds (it was a golf referral booking so perhaps that was the expectation, but I travelled with my wife) and so I asked for a queen/king sized bedroom - no problem, that will be €100 euro supplement please.....I mean if there was a room available...... There is no free parking at the hotel, €25 euro per night with an external car park provider, €35 if you want a valet to park it for you. After the first night, we parked on the street about 1/2 a mile down the hill. There is a city tax of €10 per person per night added to your bill and only notified to us on checking-out. There is no ugly!!! Would like to go back one day. Rome is beautiful and this is a great hotel to visit it.

Thank you for sharing your feedback following your recent stay at the Rome Cavalieri. We were happy to read that you enjoyed the hotel facilities and the hospitality service provided although we regret to learn that some aspects did not fully meet your expectations. At the Rome Cavalieri, we always try to give preference for an upgrade whenever possible however the hotel is running refurbishment works with limited inventory. Also may we take this opportunity to highlight that the city tax is mentioned in all confirmation letters, we sincerely sympathize with the discomfort caused on this occasion however it is mandatory as per local law. Rest assured that your comments have been shared with the department heads involved in order to take corrective actions to update our shuttle bus meeting point instructions. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back soon and we kindly invite you to contact us whenever you may need assistance. Kind regards,

So basically we loved our stay! We booked a suite room overlooking the whole Rome for 2 nights, and a club lounge which served foods 5 times a day! Absolutely recommended to book a lounge access so you can enjoy and hang out at the hotel! I also want to point out the spa! It was amazing! Spa was my favorite thing about this hotel! I believe there were 3 steam rooms, 2 massive indoor pools, and a huge fitness area! Only drawback was the location, it was kinda far but we knew about it before checking in and it was totally fine for us! Recommended!!!!

I found Rome Cavalieri to be a good hotel and considering local prices which are quite high in Rome, the value for the money at Rome Cavalieri during our stay was quite good. My only concern is that I am not sure it meets the Waldorf Astoria brand standards, but as long as the hotel is not priced like a typical WA hotel then it's fine. For our dates I noticed that unlike other WA hotels of the world, the hotel was not one of the most expensive in the city, in fact it was not even the most expensive of the Hilton hotel chain group: Rome Cavalieri was cheaper than a Curio hotel and just a bit more expensive than a DoubleTree. If I compare to other hotel chains, St.Regis Rome (where we stayed before) was triple the price whereas normally WA and StR brands can be comparable. So in Rome it would be unfair to compare Cavalieri to St.Regis. As Hilton Diamond guest I was upgraded upon arrival to an Alcove Suite which was appreciated. The room style is very much classic and entirely suitable given that it's Rome after all. Furniture was marble throughout and the bathroom was very nice, so in terms of hardware it met WA standards. The problem was more about service which was more uneven. In the restaurant during breakfast, service was excellent so I had no complaints there. The small service hiccups were on some missed details which made me feel like the hotel was not clicking on all cylinders and falling a bit short of luxury standards. For example I alerted the hotel in advance by e-mail of a special occasion for our stay and it was completely missed - no mention of anything. In addition, because I booked three separate (consecutive) reservations of one night only, they required me to pay every day one at a time whereas 99.9% of hotels would simply roll the charges into a single folio to be taken care of on the departure date, for the guest convenience. This is minor but in this instance they do not have a customer-centric policy - this is simply to aid their own accounting process. Anyway while the hotel was not perfect, overall we had a nice stay and for the price they charge I would return. I would simply advise to keep expectations at a moderate level rather than Waldorf level.

At the Rome Cavalieri we are most passionate about delivering high level service and we always try to celebrate their special occasion making their stay a memorable one. Elegant property with friendly, helpful, and competent staff. Most staff members have excellent English communication skills. The type of luxury found at this resort is like an enjoyable time capsule ride to a fine past long gone. You can view it as a romantic escape. I couldn't help but smile most of the time. The spa is comfortable and relaxing with great water pressure in the hot tub (although I prefer a little hotter water), the Turkish steam bath with cold plunge pool is great for sore joints/muscles after a day of site seeing, and the sauna is wonderful. We didn't have time to enjoy the indoor pool, but it looks wonderful as well. Some amenities, like an in-room coffee maker, microwave, and refrigerator are not provided - although we've seen these types of amenities not provided in other luxury properties, a coffee maker is often present even in luxury hotels, in our experience. It's convenient and time saving to wake up and brew your own coffee, but apparently, it's not the style here. We thought our drinks at the lobby bar were weak this time around and for whatever reason the lobby bar was sparsely attended this trip, even on a Saturday night with what appeared to be a sold-out hotel. The breakfast buffet is quite good with a very good variety and quality food. Sleep quality is great – comfortable beds and little to no noise. This was our second stay this year at this property, and a main reason we returned to Rome was because of the comfort, peace, and elegance provided at the Cavalieri. The view from our room balcony was fabulous with beautiful, peaceful sunsets and sunrises. The Cavalieri is situated on top of a Roman hill with beautiful landscaping and the glory of Rome right there. As I journaled in my personal notes, life on the road doesn't get any better than this.
