As countless others have pointed out in other reviews, the Hotel Smeraldo and its annex (Dipendenza) are located in an absolutely wonderful area of historic central Rome, within very easy walking distance of many significant tourist sites, including the very atmospheric Campo dei Fiori. The properties are extremely clean, with very modern bathrooms, air conditioning and flat screen TVs. Rooms... More

The rooms were adequately sized, but they were a little warm. My roommate and I kept our window open (in January!). The beds were a little uncomfortable, but after spending all day exploring the Eternal City, I didn't really care all that much. Small, cramped bathrooms. Bedroom and bathroom always seemed clean. Wonderful location: right next to the Camp di... More

Well there is free wifi and free continental breakfast with cafe americano, hot tea, juices, milk, pastries that are to die for, cereals and yogurts. The rooms are tiny and so are the bathrooms as other reviewers have said. I excepted tiny but this is the bare minimum in size. The AC was loud but since it is fall now... More

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Smeraldo for 2 nights. It was an excellent location, we were able to walk to many of the sights we wanted to see, the Vatican City is a little far, though. the hotel was clean and the breakfast was good. The long haired night guy was a little grouchy.

My wife and I stayed at the Smeraldo 7 nights in September 2012. We stayed in the part of the hotel that was across the street by Roscioli Bakery. We were up on the 4th floor and our room was very small, but we were able to quickly get used to that by completely unpacking our bags and putting everything... More

We could not have done better than to book the Dipendenza Hotel Smeraldo for our first visit to Rome. Upon our early morning arrival at the hotel, we were met by an extremely friendly and efficient hotel staff who checked us in and provided a place for us to store our luggage until our room was ready. While waiting for... More

Hotel Smeraldo has a perfect location, just 2 blocks from Largo Argentina, and very close to Piazza Navona, Campo dei Fiori, and countless other piazzas and monuments. I stayed in Room 203 of the Dipendenza, and the room was perfect. I had a tall window with shutters and double-curtains, which opened onto the street so I could feel the cool... More

We stayed at the Hotel Smeraldo Dipendenza (right around the corner from and sharing the same lobby with Hotel Smeraldo) in Rome in September 2011. As stated in other reviews the two main things that we look for in accomodations are cleanliness and value for dollar. Both expectations were met. Rome is not an inexpensive town so we were very... My thanks to Claudio and all the staff at Hotel Smeraldo for a lovely stay in the Dipendenza, which is a fully renovated building just around the corner form the main hotel. In 2006, five girlfriends stayed in the main hotel, so when I decided to go back to Rome I called to see if they had a single room... More

The Smeraldo was conveniently located a short walk from the Campo d'fiori and Piazza Navona and within easy walking distance to the Pantheon and other ancient sites including the Forum and Pallantine Hill. We felt quite safe and close to the action. The room was clean, but it was quite small. There is an elevator, but it's up a few... More
