Excellent choice, chic and basic, the name perfectly describes what you get, would recommend this hotel for both leisure and business trips. Very close to the retiro park, great for walks and jogging.

Nice staff, good coffee and fruit downstairs, clean rooms and convenient location (especially if taking the train in/out from Atocha). Bathroom door would have been nice. Not very good soundproofing. Does the trick for a night or 2 (especially if you're not paying too much) -- keep those expectations low.

Desk staff were the most helpful, and friendly staff encountered in 5 weeks of travel in Spain. Clean and certainly compact room that had what you need. Access to the roof top balcony and the window seat couch downstairs with free coffee bar and fruit meant it never felt too close. Enjoyed and recommend to my friends

chic&basic Atocha (madrid) was clean, and basic. The stewards were friendly but not very helpful while not asked. They didn't give us any info about madrid when we checked in. We had to ask for a map, and then ask again to have a better map (with metros and monuments etc). However, they were happy to help when asked to.
