Absolutely delightful! I almost drove by at first because I didn't believe the hotel was really in that ancient building. But the interior is very modern with all the amenities. Very comfortable room, and very convenient to sightseeing at the cathedral. The staff were also very eager to provide a map and give a rundown of where all the restaurants... More

This hotel is an old convent renovated in a very interesting way where an effort was made to respect the old architecture of the building, at least in my non-expert opinion. Rooms are nice and quiet with comfortable beds (we slept great!), although a bit sterile-looking (maybe the convent theme?). The hotel restaurant serves very good food in a beautiful... More

Both my girlfriend and myself found the hotel to be absolutely first class in every way. The room was spacious with a great view. The service was as good as any I have ever encountered in all my years of travelling. Staff were fantastic. The restaurant is a must and the food and wine were exceptional. The setting is wonderful... More

After walking 20kms/day for 2 weeks with good quality accommodation along the way, it was blissful to arrive in Santiago de Compostela and find a wonderfully appointed hotel with excellent quality, service and facility. We were most pleased with our two nights there to restore and refresh. Treat yourself - even if it's a stretch for your budget. It is... More

Some of the more recent reviews are a bit over the top. It is not a super luxurious hotel. For an experienced traveller this is a good value comfortable and spacious hotel literally within a couple of minutes walk from the central cathedral and restaurant area. Our room was clean, spacious and comfortable. The furniture and styling is a bit... More

This is one of the best hotels in the world, I'd say. For one thing, it is only a few hundred yards from one of the world's most spectacular cathedrals, the Camino pilgrims' destination, the home of the presumed remains of the great Apostle, St James. Secondly, it was reputedly established by the great Saint Francis of Assisi, which gives... More

Coming from a Catholic family, the idea of staying in a convent caused us to giggle...but stepping into the San Francisco Hotel Monumento took our breath away. I was traveling with my father and two sisters, and Santiago was the last stop on a vacation through Portugal and northern Spain. The ambiance of the mystical, ancient city was a perfect... More
