This hotel is a very cute and welcoming guest house in Erlangen, close to the botanic gardens, lots of bars, restaurant and shops. We stayed here for business, as organising an event later next year. The booking process was simple and efficient! The rooms are cosy and charming and the bathrooms are very bright and clean. Breakfast was tasty and communal but we met some very interesting people, which we wouldn't have in a standard hotel. Over my time here i was very unwell and the staff were so helpful in providing me with medical remedies and also placing a kettle, special tea and honey in my room! They went above and beyond to help make me feel comfortable and get better. If i could give service 10 stars i would. Also, they have beautiful big dogs in the main house, they are gentle and keep themselves to themselves! Thank you for a wonderful stay and we look forward to coming back!…

The Hotelchen am Theater is an old-fashioned type of B&B or pension. It is family run and very friendly. The building and the rooms are charming, and make you remember that you are really in a small town in Bavaria and not in a generic hotel. It is located in the semi-pedestrianized Altstadt, so is very quiet. Breakfast is served on a communal table, and includes a selection of bread, cheeses and cold meats, and cute little bowls with a variety of jams.

This is more of a B&B rather than a hotel. Very centrally located and cutely quaint, just steps away from Erlangen's city center. It was my first time so there were some things I hadn't expected: 1) they have Wifi but one gets 24-hr access codes so, unless you want to get a new one all the time, you log off the Wifi all the time, which is unnecessarily cumbersome. 2) There's just one large-ish breakfast table so it's very social - you can't really have breakfast 'on your own'. 3) It's an old building so one can hear a lot from upstairs or next door. The service is great, the staff is very friendly and helpful.

We stayed here for four nights in July and had a really good time. The hotel is located right in the centre of town with restaurants and pubs just down the road. It is a really quirky hotel and you feel more like you are walking into somebody's home. The rooms are situated off a court yard and you can sit outside in the summer. The rooms themselves are very small though and the bathrooms not much bigger. Perfect if you are out and about all day but if you are planning on staying in your rooms for long periods it can get a little chlaustrophobic as there isn't really anywhere else to sit in the hotel - other than outside of course. However the hotel is right next to the Schlossgarten which is a lovely park so you can always take a stroll through the park. Breakfast if great and is upstairs in the main house where you are greeted by a giant dog called Belu - he is very sweet though and keeps himself to himself. All in all a very nice hotel in a great location. Oh price wise it was okay. Erlangen isn't cheap for hotels so it wasn't bad. have a nice stay.…

Hotelchen am Theater is an amazing and miraculous place. Located in a historic building from the 1750ies it has been family run since 1977. It is central and so charming, that a stay there is the highlight of any visit to Erlangen. For breakfast guests share a large table which makes for a lot of interesting exchanges and information. The hotel is perfect for any traveler who is fed up with waking up in yet another town, facing the same same nondescript rooms.

This is a *small* hotel - as the name already suggests. Quite a few rooms are facing a small and picturesque courtyard. This is also where guests are allowed to smoke - so if you have one of the rooms near the courtyard, be prepared to have their smoke draft into your room... There are rooms of different sizes and some of them look quite stunning on the pictures. My own one was rather bare, but it had all the necessities you needed (but no hairdryer - I suppose this could be provided on request). Breakfast is taken on the first floor (i.e. not on the ground floor for you Americans...) and there's only one big table, so you're having a communal breakfast with the other guests. Food-wise it was great – the coffee was a bit cold, though. The place is run by a team of mother and daughter - and things seem to be run very well. I only stayed for one night so I can't say all that much... Oh yes, the Internet works and it is free.…
