Arrived in Nice at rush hour after driving for 5 hours - tourism information centre sent us to the Hotel Imperial - central location, free parking, very cool inside with high ceilings, stained glass and lots of old world atmosphere - and comfortable beds - great find in Nice!

It is difficult to book a room, but you will be rewarded with charm and style, a la Hemingway and French bohemian. We are a family of 5 and could not find a cheaper room in Nice, so our surprise was great when we saw this beautiful place. Only when we paid the bill, we could believe it was true

Set back from the road on a busy street, the hotel has large, clean rooms. Ours had a great view. The public space are airy with interesting wall coverings, nice décor and great light from the large sky light on the top floor. The hotel is an easy walk to the north end of the old town. At the risk of my favourite hotel becoming hard to get a room in, I cannot recommend the Imperial highly enough. Do NOT expect an anodyne, same-as-any-hotel room.
