I stayed here for one night in the summer as I came up to Lancaster for a friend's wedding. I had explained this in an email, and when I got there the proprietor said she'd put me in the larger room they had available so I'd have enough room to twirl around in my dress and get ready! I was... More

My aunt and I stayed for one night on our way from Scotland to Holyhead to catch the ferry to Ireland. Holly greeted us after our cold and wet afternoon with tea and biscuits in the fornt room - fantastic. She then set about giving us a map and instructions for making our way through the CBD -where to eat... More

I've been staying at the Shakespeare reasonably regularly for some 16 years - ever since I started at the University, and I've got to know Fred and Sally quite well since they took over the B&B. It's just consistently excellent. Wherever I stay now it is always compared and rated against the Shakespeare - from the rooms to the wonderful... More

Nothing was too much trouble for the owners of this marvelous Bed and Breakfast and they did everything they could to make my friend and I feel at home. Warm rooms, immaculately clean, central location, great breakfasts, friendly chats, tea and coffee always being offered, and travel tips and tourist information to boot!!! We shall return!

We stayed over a week while visiting our daughter at the university. From the moment we arrived Sally and Holly were kind and caring, offering their assistance whenever needed. Our room was clean and very comfortable. Breakfast was always tasty and filling. Holly made my porridge every morning. When I mentioned that I had it with berries and nuts at home,... More

Once more the Shakespeare became home away from home on my annual visit from NZ to Lanacster University for a month. Some changes of personnel with Fred spending more time in his garden and daughter Holly doing the breakfasts along with Sally. But what a family! Fred passing in his how to cook a great breakfast. Sally and holly sorting... More

I just stayed one night but the reception I got was first class. Room comfortable and clean. Very flexible as regards breakfast times, and very nice breakfast. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Well situated in the centre of Lancaster and quiet. I can't comment on the parking. For me a perfect stopover.

Sally and Fred go great lengths to accommodate you. Upon my arrival Sally was able to check me in early and brought me some tea while I was unpacking. Later I decided to visit Morecambe (nearby coastal town), and Sally made sure I knew how to get there, gave me a map and all the directions. You have to let... More
