My party arrived in Derby in mid May for our annual cricket holiday. Whilst the weather was bleak, the warm welcome afforded us by our hosts more than compensated. Our rooms were large, comfortable and well appointed. Our en-suite bathroom contained the most efficient shower I have encountered to date with a large size cabinet, much appreciated as we are... Retired and fussy couple - three night stay in November 2012. A gem of a place and found it was just as described in previous reviews. Friendly staff, warm greeting, spacious and spotlessly clean rooms. Breakfasts freshly cooked to order - nothing's too much trouble. Convenient location for Derby and most parts of Derbyshire. Very quiet. Excellent value and highly... More

Good size room, comfortable, warm, good value and Rea is very welcoming and helpful. It's in a good location for getting in to Derby and a quiet area for staying in. And a good, hearty breakfast. I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Derby and certainly stay there again.

A great B+B just a mile or so from the city centre, with everything you'd expect and more besides. A welcome piece of rock cake on arrival is great after a hard day at work, the complimentary hot beverage choices are fantastic (Horlicks fan here!) and the guest's kitchen is a great idea, if you want to cook something, or... My wife and I stayed for two nights with our two teenage children. The double and the twin were both spacious and immaculately clean. There is a guests' kitchen equipped with cooker, fridge and microwave, an unusual and welcome feature for families. A good collection of DVDs was available for guests to borrow without charge. The location is quiet but... More

Perfect location to meet a friend half way and go to a gig at the Assembly Rooms. Rooms were spacious and comfy and we made use of the handy kitchen to cook tea. Breakfast was lovely and we had extra toast and coffee. Would definitely go back.

As a regular business visitor to Derby, Thornhill Lodge is an absolute gem. Very quiet, comfortable and convenient for the center of Derby. There is a well fitted separate kitchen for guests use, a homemade rock cake on arrival and wide choice at breakfast, including a hearty Derbyshire fry up. Having found Thornhill Lodge, I would not stay anywhere else... More

We chose Thornhill Lodge because of the comments on Tripadvisor. The location is really good for the centre of Derby and access to the ring road. It is in a very quiet road and has plenty of parking, either in a small car park or on the road.It is within walking distance of both M&S Simply Food and a large... More

We needed somewhere to stay in Derby with our son and came across Thornhill Lodge. We could not have done better. The rooms were well appointed with lovely little touching like homemade rock cakes on arrival and jams at breakfast (damson really wonderful). A very comfortable night for both us and him. We will be back and would recommend Thornhill... More

We stayed one night at Thornhill Lodge and so glad we did. The room was very large compared to the usual hotel room and very nicely decorated. They had a lot of entertainment available and were very friendly. The breakfast in the morning was also fantastic as it was cooked to your request. All in all a great stay and... More
