Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just stayed the weekend at Castletroy hotel Limerick first weekend reopened due to pandemic. Their were four of us, two couples, we had a brilliant time, the staff were excellent nothing was a problem, very well organised making us all feel safe. Slight problem with electricity, power cut on the Saturday night into Sunday morning again everyone was brilliant doing what they could in a very difficult situation. Well done Castletroy to management and staff will definitely be back, great customer service. Irene

My friend and I stayed for one night while visiting a friend in Limerick. When we checked in, reception was busy, however the lady on reception handled the desk very well and was polite and friendly. Our room was outside the hotel and nobody escorted us to our room, poor!! As we didn't know where we were going we asked for direction. A porter showed us, friendly guy but his uniform was filthy!!!! Room was nice, clean and modern. We decided to eat in the bar that evening. Food was good but the service was very poor. Several staff running around like headless chickens, forgetting simple requests and clearly not trained on table service. The seats were also so uncomfortable. Wouldn't rush back.

Stayed here during UL grad week, it was the only reasonably priced hotel at that time. You get what you pay for so it’s very basic, but it’s very clean, beds are comfortable and the shower was good. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room. Very close to UL . I do wonder how planning was given for this hotel it seems to stand out like a sore thumb in the area, probably the same people that gave the planning for the half built now ghost shopping centre across the road, nice area otherwise,

Good rooms, very nice campus, young and friendly staff, possibility to do your laundry, nice restaurant · It is really far from Limerick centre. If you have a car is fine. Otherwise, need a 20 min bus ride

I booked a 2 room apartment for a week's holiday here to see my son. For sure the apartment is pretty basic and no frills, but it is clean, tidy and fairly spacious. Our place was on the top floor, with wonderful views over Limerick city and the very impressive university campus. On site there is a sports arena with a pool, which is reasonably priced. Unfortunately there is not much else open here for the summer, a bar and the pavilion restaurant, not a place for an 8 year old. On leaving the campus a short drive away is an Aldi and a cinema. There are buses here going into town, but to make the most of the local sites I would recommend having a car. Cliffs of Moher are about 1.5 hrs drive away as is Cork.

I reserved a double room (for 2 people) at Cappavilla Village (Ivy Building) through a conference at UL. It was a basic dorm room with good built-in storage for clothing, a desk, private bath, and full-size bed. The challenge we had was that the full bed is enclosed in an alcove on 3 sides, so one of us had to climb over the other to get into and out of the bed, which was unexpected and difficult. Our disappointment was a result of not seeing photos of the actual bedroom but trusting in the conference referral. Our comfort was pretty important so we ended up moving after one night. We pre-paid via the conference and were not able to cancel our reservation or get a refund4. There are a lot of different groups staying on campus in the summer – youth sports teams, adults and families traveling.

The receptionist was more than just helpful. The room was clean with a very comfy bed and clean linen. The bathroom was clean as well. And the plus point was it is located in a very beautiful campus, quite near to the Shannon River and a stylish pedestrian bridge. Washing machine available few blocks away which need to be operated with coins. However it is not so centrally located but the centre of Limerick town was easily accessible by bus.

Pros: The campus is gorgeous - the Shannon River flowing through campus less than 100 m from our accommodation is majestic, and the pedestrian bridge over it a gem. Walking paths beside the river were beautiful, the architecture on campus (although not timeless) is intriguing. We loved having our privacy in the individual rooms and the common area where we could cook, eat and socialize. We had the whole apartment suite to our family, although only three of the bedrooms were used by us, so had the kitchen and common area to ourselves. The nearest bar (Pavilion) was lively at times and well stocked with drinks, coffee and had breakfast available although we didn't partake. Cons: Beds are not super comfortable, and definitely not designed to be shared by two people so my wife and I did not sleep terribly well until I moved into one of the other rooms. Our daughter thought they were just fine. Bathrooms and some furnishings could have been a little cleaner. Although the location is beautiful, it is a bit of a drive from Limerick city center, and there are about 30 speed humps between the town and this apartment that got a little tedious to drive over.

Stayed here one night as a trip down memorylane visiting the campus that we lived on 20 years ago. Fiendly staff welcomed us. Appartment is what we expected it to be : basic, clean and quiet. Kidds liked the fact they had there own room with shower and toilet. We found the different locks on the door a bit annoying. Prepare a car to go to town. .
