Sad to say but it seems that the Oakwood rooms have not been upgraded. We stayed there three times in December and each time there were problems. First time we got in late and not many cars in parking lot and yet we literally were housed in the very last room which took us 10 min to walk to plus... More

Great hotel with friendly staff. Excellent food and nice old school feel. Loved the aeronautical theme. Rooms were large and well furnished. Only small gripe (and it is small) is that the bar was stocked with very basic, uninteresting beers. Bit of choice would be nice for the discerning drinker. Other than that the hotel is excellent More

Cozy, warm and comfortable describe this lovely, two story hotel located in Shannon Town, Co. Clare, Ireland. If you're looking for delicious food, good drinks in a nicely decorated bar, friendly service with a smile and a good night's sleep, look no further than the Oak Wood Arms Hotel. The hotel has plenty of free parking and is just minutes... More

We recently stayed a couple of nights at this cosy and comfortable hotel. It was a great starting point for visiting Clare and Galway and great for us as it is so close to Shannon airport and our flight home. We were blessed with good weather and the clare coast was beautiful. There is a good little attraction called Bunratty... More

This hotel is the closest thing you'll find in Ireland to an old American motel. It is definitely a little tired, and the olde worlde wood trim throughout looks rather silly, but it is a perfectly adequate place to stay if you have an early morning flight. The room was large with lots of storage space and the most modern... More

We stayed for our last night in Ireland, as the hotel was very convenient to Shannon Airport. We thought that the hotel was lovely, and very comfortable. The rooms were clean and large. The hotel itself is large, and does seem somewhat dark due to the wood everywhere. There was a nice lounge just outside our rooms, which was convenient... More

It's been said in other reviews that this hotel seems past its prime. That said, our room (303, at the back of the hotel) was clean, quiet, and the wall-mounted air conditioning unit chilled the room nicely (if not quickly). The wallpaper was peeling in some places, but our bed was clean and comfortable (the latter being far more important,... More

Granted I was going from the Shelborne to the Oakwood Arms but it was still a disappointment. Contrary to what i was told, the hotel was considerably further from the bus stop then I would have liked, considering we were carrying all of our luggage. The hotel was old, the beds were rock hard, and it was stifflingly hot in... More

I am sitting in the bar with a great pint of Guinness surrounded by cheerful helpful staff. It's been 12 years since I last stayed here and yes it has aged but that adds to the overall character. My room is clean and warm and at a price that is good. The food earlier was lovely and this hotel is... More

I have stayed often and I like it. Its slightly dog eared and the plumbing is noisy but despite this I always seem to sleep well there. The price is very low and includes breakfast. My main criticism of the hotel is that it is gloomy and the lighting in the rooms themselves make it difficult to read in comfort.... More
