Had an awful experience with Rose Cottage in Kilkenny (I was charged even when no one was there when I arrived!). Anways, I met a wonderful cab driver named John who recommended Rafters and I was immediately given a room without having booked prior to arriving at a very reasonable rate. It was exactly what I was hoping for in... More

My family and I stopped in the pub for one drink and ended up staying for several hours because of Jerry Rafter's personal attention. He is a very gracious host. We were curious about Hurling so he put in a video of the game for us. He spent time with us and recomended places to visit during our stay. He... More

The manager/owner was very ignorant, didn't want to give us extra towels. Rooms were too expensive @ €50 per person, as it was more like a hostel. Breakfast and service was terrible. Next time I visit Kilkenny I won't be staying in the Rafter Dempsey's. More

Cosy b&b room with a good location even though the town is fairly small. The cinema is in the same street. We stayed on the 2nd floor and didn't hear any noise from the pub. More

Part of a hens wkd. Stayed in a quad room. Very small window so we were all sweltering in there. Room was in need of decorating and could do with full length mirror. Great location. Overall I'd have been happy if we'd paid much less than 200 eur for the room. It was more like a hostel. We could have... More

We stayed in a family room with 4 beds. Rooms are basic and a little worn, same for the bathroom. The pub downstairs is a friendly place, suitable for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or evening drinks. The proprietor Jerry Rafter works hard to please his guests. Location is great for walking around Kilkenny, as it's right in the center, on a... More

The 'Rafter' Dempsey's had a great location in the city. We originally considered the "Kilkenny Hibernian Hotel" right around the corner, which looked quite nice in the bar and lobby area, but was not as economical as The 'Rafter' Dempsey's. We had a friend traveling with us who was staying by himself, and the 'Rafter' Dempsey's per person rate was... More

Three of us stayed at "The Rafter Dempsey's" during the "Kilkenny Roots Music Fest" and we couldn't have made a better choice for the price. Upon our arrival the staff made us very welcome and the craic started from there. The 3 bed room(2 singles & 1 double) was spacious, clean and had everything you would need for a short... More

We arrived in Kilkenny on St. Steven's Day (Dec. 26) and asked around about a place to stay. The couple that we stayed with had better luck with their room. I think that we just had a bad one out of many good. There was no heat and we were right above the pub, which blasted great 80s tunes for... More
