Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Just stayed in this B&B, and I couldn't rate it highly enough. Great price rooms spacious and clean, power shower was excellent. Owner lovely man very helpful. Only 1 mile walk to city centre. Excellent breakfast options for all tastes.

A bit hesitant due to recent poor reviews but these seemed unjustified. Warm welcome on arrival, big comfortable room and a huge breakfast the next day. The location is central and in the banks of the Nore. Thanks for your hospitality.

It is exactly as it appears on the web... sooo old fashioned. Booked it as a last minute weekend away so we were limited with our options. Clean but decorated with the cheapest items possible. My sister reckoned it was kitted out from a charity shop! Host was pleasant and friendly enough. Every item from the breakfast menu is directly from Aldi. Very very basic place to stay

CHEAP AND CHEERFUL—-NOT We arrived at Castle Lodge Kilkenny expecting the warm welcome we have received at other bed and breakfasts. We wear sorry disappointed. First we were chastised by the owner for our timing. It seems he needed to pick up his daughter and we were making him late. He gave us the keys, walked the stairs to our room and then left. We brought our bags up and examined our room. It had a single bed and a double bed with mismatched old bedspreads and three mismatched pillows. An unplugged lamp was replugged but wouldn’t turn on. Our host returned and when we complained was told we didn’t know how to turn on the electricity. It was discovered that it needed a new lightbulb. We left the room to explore the city and when we returned our host was not to be found. There was no one to ask about local restaurants and one couldn’t borrow an iron. A dog in the neighborhood barked all night making sleep difficult. No one was around until the next morning. When we complained we were told that this was not a hotel but his home. If we had wanted an iron we should have said so when he fixed the lamp. He had taken the children to the park because of the glorious weather. We have been to B&Bs that made you feel welcomed in their home. They've shared favorite restaurants. This was a business, not a home, and a cheap one at that. I would not recommend it and give it a 2.

My girlfriend booked the B&B online for a wedding which was taking place at the Newpark Hotel in Kilkenny. We were trying to save some money considering you only spend a few hours in the room for a wedding. The place is easy to find with adequate parking. The room wasn’t great, bed not good, bathroom not good enough, No curtains on the window only a shabby blind so I was awake at around 6am with the bright room. We were 10 mins late for breakfast got offered tea and toast, was already fed up of the place at that stage, we declined and left. All in all not enough attention to detail in the bedroom. Didn’t get a good nights sleep or a breakfast so it failed.

This place owned by an Irish couple is highly recommended for excellent facilities, reasonable price, and a really pleasant experience. It's really more like a home away from home. We love the full Irish breakfast served daily with ❤️ love! A 5-min walk away is Malahide Village, the bus stop, and train

Liam & Catherine were great hosts. Comfortable room and decent bathroom. A delicious breakfast both mornings. Plenty of parking. A leisurely 15 minute stroll into town. Will definitely return. Great value for money!

Excellent deal at the Castle Lodge in Kilkenny. Comfy accommodations with delicious, tradisional breakfast included. The Proprietor was lovely enough to carry my heavy suitcase up to our room and called us a taxi to the wedding we were attending without us even asking. Would absolutely stay here again.
