Service: The hostess Magret is rude, unfriendly & very unwelcoming to guests. Rooms: Poor & shabby. Beds were old & rock hard. Sheets & spreads seemed like they smelled of a dog & looked dirty. When were the covers last cleaned? Showers were cramped up & small. Breakfast: Hostess was rude & wanted guests out of the way. Breakfast tasted... More

I really liked staying in Tara Hall. Margaret and the staff were very friendly and the breakfast was freshly made and not lying around like in other bigger hotels. It was very warm and homely and near all amenities. I liked the feel of the house with all it´s history and character. Thank you and as Schwarzenegger said " I´ll... More

Little to say other than very dated and tired, bathroom grubby. Owners obviously never drink coffee it was about the worst I've ever had. Breakfast obviously cooked then reheated, slices of toast chucked at you virtually. Payed for by my company ( who tend to go for cheap!). Awful

I am not by nature a complainer and truly try to give people the benefit of the doubt, but this was the most terrible B&B experience I had during my entire stay in Ireland. Margaret seemed put off by having guests, which is pretty odd for someone in the hospitality industry. The place is old, the room smelled musty and... More

Booked for 5 nights & checked out after one - For retro nights this place could be a real hit BUT only at retro prices - A good breakfast stopped it being absolutely terrible - room and bed was shocking, shower room really poor - repainting in progress - but needs The Full Monty to get any of its glory... Stayed on business as on the face of things it looked like a good vfm place for a one night stay but I was so wrong. It gave me the impression of a 1950's institution with very basic bedrooms and a bathroom that was beyond belief but not in a positive way. There were three rows of cream tiles just... More

We had booked in for 10 pm we arrive ten minutes late, we knocked on the door no answer then we rang the hotel and a very rude chap answered the phone we explained that we were outside and to answer the door he refused... Hi stayed in Tara hall just before Christmas. It is a standard enough bed and breakfast but the history of this old building is amazing. It was built in 1800 and was for many years used as a school. It was the residence of monk gibbon a famous Irish writer and poet. Some of his books are on display in... More

Very nice people, bedroom was a good size with tiny bathroom. In need of some updating. It looks like the place is being slowly neglected and in need of a paint job. Very tacky and out dated colors on the walls. I don’t think I would stay again and not sure if I would recommend it. Tidy but needs a... More
