My boyfriend and I stayed at O'Donoghues last weekend while in Dublin for a friend's wedding. The location is absolutely spot on. Right next to Stephen's Green and a Spar right across the street for snacks. The staff were incredibly helpful and accomodating, we were really impressed. The only thing is, if you need an early night - it might... More

My review is concerning the bathroom of room 5 that we stayed in during our stay at O Donoghues. I went to the bathroom the next morning felt something under my right foot, so i rubbed my right foot over my left foot and suddenly felt a sharp sensation and my foot was pumping blood, i then noticed there was... Went in here on a Sunday afternoon based on the previous reviews. Totally packed 3 deep with American tourists staring at the musicians in the corner. Bar staff was indifferent to providing a beer or not. Left without ordering. Found Doheny and Nesbitt up the road. Much bigger inside, only locals and a laid back atmosphere .

A great evening of Guinness and trad music from an ancient guitarist and banjo player singing all the classics, especially good rendition of "dirty old town". Great service, massive smoking area, no food.

Small but comfortable interior. Traditional Irisih musc every night I think. Bar is small so gets very crowded at weekends. There's a heated outdoor area too its quite nice. I've never been in the accomodation, just the bar, so cant comment there.

I had never experienced a "Snug Room" before and my experience was great. Being from a large metro area, Chicago bars tend to be loud, expensive, and cold. This was small, inexpensive, and intimate. The musicians were a trio from the area who i don't think ever played together. The impromptu music was traditional Irish folk interspersed with modern songs... More

You will have a very central bug-bite experience in this place! Almost no service, overall dirty room, close to loud road..... It really has a good location but I would not go again even if being paid for.

Stayed at the Shelbourne and asked if there was an authentic pub nearby. O'Donoghue's is about one block up and across the street (safe location). Walked in on a Monday night to 12 or so trad musicians and a lively (but not packed) crowd. The musicians were friendly and I asked about their instruments, and it was generally a fun... More

Re: the pub, not the lodging. O'Donogue's is an iconic music pub, close to St. St. Stephen's Green in Dublin. From late afternoon into the evening, it's usually crowded with a mix of regulars, workers from nearby offices, tourists, and traditional music enthusiasts. The ale, stout, and hard cider selection is typical, and the staff straightforward (although I wasn't checking... More

I was their with firends a while back, at the bar I noticed the barman was dipping his (dirty) fingers into peoples drinks before they were give out to the customers. When I pointed it this out to him he gave me the 'one finger' gesture. I asked to speak to the manager - and he said it was him.... More
