the picture look great until you get their. I would class it as an inn or a work men's lodgings. had the carvery it was like cattle yard, low- average quality food half the bar taps were not operating. the hotel was dated and carvery smell stank the whole hotel. room! the bathroom had a cracked sink, stained bath, and a toilet you needed a shoe horn to get in or off very tight between wall and shower. dust on the top cupboard and decorative light runner, room had no blind so was like being in a gold fish bowl did have curtains which the backs were torn. the check in girl and breakfast severing lady and maid were the saving grace. its such a same as the place has so much going for it location, decent view and the planting in the car park area caught my eye,

A short walk to Chapelizod village and Phoenix Park it is well outside the city but with the 26 bus stopping outside that is not a problem. Check in and out was pleasant and quick. Room was fine but double bed was tiny. Bathroom also quite compact but fine with a decent shower. We had an evening meal in the bar. Some issues with the service. One guy was excellent but when he went on a break the level dropped a bit. Seems to be getting more common but if you have table service then keep an eye on your guests and approach them now and again to see if they need anything rather than standing around havingvthe chats. Food was good but we ordered wings as a starter and they were brought at the same time as the mains without explanation and we did not request this. Wife had steak sandwich which was well packed and very good. I had buttermilk chicken which was dry and overdone but helped by the burger being well dressed. Breakfast had a choice of full, mini or veggie cooked breakfast and then a very small buffet offering. The full has more different items than the mini but you get 2 sausages and 2 bacon with the mini and only 1 of each with the full. Was tasty enough but buffet part was really small.

I should have written this review a long time ago as this hotel does what it says on the tin. I have stayed at this charming hotel on numerous occasions when visiting my dying mother who was in the nursing home across the road from the hotel. On every stay, I didn't pre book but arrived as a "walk in". Each and every stay the staff were always friendly and professional. They all have a "can do" working ethics. The room was spacious and everything was clean and well laid out. The beds are so comfortable you will get a wonderful sleep guaranteed. There was absolutely no noise from outside and inside the hotel. I am a hotel manager myself so I can base this hotel review on my own high standards. I would highly recommend this hotel for both business and pleasure. Thank you to everyone for all my very pleasant and comfortable stays.

Pleasant hotel right off of the bus line which I highly recommend using rather than paying high dollar for a bolt or Uber. Loved that it was away from the action of city center. Quaint old world charm. Only stayed one night but it was well worth it.

VERY happy with my stay at the hotel Oct 6-13. The staff were excellent, professional, helpful and informative. I cannot say enough about Catherine and Justin. It was very clean, the beds were comfortable, far enough from the City centre that it was very quiet and close enough to get there in 20-25 minutes by bus (one stop in front of the hotel and one about 80m away when coming back). I read some of the reviews which were critical before I booked as I always do and did not see anything wrong. The bathrooms are smaller (in comparison to Canada), but as a man over six feet and on the heavier side I had no problem. It is essentially as you see the pictures. If you want super modern or historical, but if you like what you see it is perfect. TIP: taxi to city centre was 19-21 euros but a transit leap pass is really the way to go. I would stay there again in a minute.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Spacious modern room with comfortable beds. I loved the wall-to-wall window, while the kid loved the neon light under the mirror. The bathroom with shower is better than with bathtub. Quiet location. It takes around 20-25 minutes to go to and from city center by public bus. You can request a breakfast to go if leaving early (just sandwiches). Irish breakfast was very tasty, whereas the buffer is very poor. The bar is a good place to have dinner.

My father had his 70th surprise birthday at the West County Hotel at the weekend. We did not stay overnight as we live locally but we had food/drink whilst there. The Manager (Justin) who helped us with the organising, table setting and decorations for the night was excellent, he could not do enough for us all. We had a corner to ourselves. The food was lovely, nothing was left on the plate's after finishing. The bar staff were very friendly and accommodating, especially the bar tender. All in all, a great experience.

My husband and I stayed at the West County Hotel in Dublin the beginning of August for 2 nights. We were both pleasantly surprised with this hotel. On checking in, the reception staff were very friendly, helpful and polite and on going to our room, it was lovely. We were also pleased to see there was a good bar at the hotel. The other really good point is the location. Why I say this is, it is approximately 20 minutes (depending on traffic of course!!) to get into the main area, the centre of Dublin but, although the City is quite a distance away, the bus stop is literally just across the road from the hotel and the buses seem to arrive on a very regular basis, so that was great and then, coming back to the hotel from the city also proved easy. I would have provided a score of 5, however, the reason I didn’t is the breakfast was lovely apart from the tea and coffee which really surprised me as the Irish are renowned for a good cup of tea!! Being of Irish descent, I love nothing more (apart from a nice glass of wine!!) than a good, strong cup of tea so was very surprised at the incredibly weak tea I received. My husband had coffee which I tasted and unfortunately, that wasn’t great either so, if I may suggest, keep up the good work with the breakfast but ‘please’ change the brand of the tea and coffee. To sum up…. Would I stay at this hotel again? Absolutely, we both really enjoyed our time at the hotel and as previously mentioned, we were both impressed with the place and the staff.
