Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We had been having trouble with our flights over to Dublin due to storm Dennis on 15/02/2020. Our flights were cancelled and we were trying to get refunded through our package site Lastminute.com who have been amazing throughout. We couldn't get a refund for the hotel. I had been in contact with the throughout everything and the staff had been so polite and helpful. I called on 18/02/2020 and the woman who answered politely asked us to call back the next day when the manager was in so that they could sort something out for us. On 19/02/2020 at around 10:30 I called back the hotel and explained that the day before I had called regarding getting some money back and they put me straight through to the manager. Up until this point I had a very pleasant experience with your staff all of whom had been incredibly helpful. When the manager answered the phone I began to explain my situation and she immediately cut me off very rudely and simply said ‘There is nothing we can do for you. Go through your travel insurance’. Simply so rude I then tried to reason with her only to get the same response. I never went in with the intention to get all my money back and I knew it would be a long shot but I never thought someone would be so rude. She then hung up the phone after I had said thank you and got nothing in response and I was sat there at home feeling totally gobsmacked. At the end of the day I never expected to ring up a hotel and get spoken to so badly. I was planning on booking another stay here later in the year but knowing they have a manager that speaks to someone like that I definitely won’t be!

We spent a weekend in this beautiful hotel in the heart of Donegal the staff were so accommodating and couldn’t do enough for us! The food was first class and very reasonable, the hotel was spotlessly clean. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone.

There was hammering and drilling outside our room at 9.30 am . It stopped as soon as we rang down but then house keeping knocked the door at 10. (Knowing we’d already complained and asked for a late check out) we’d had a late night and didn’t need to be disturbed until check out. Upon check out there was no apology only defence stating that if you don’t have your do not disturb sign up then you can be disturbed. Does the hotel not know which rooms are empty for cleaning? Who has checked out if they are only staying for one night? A very unsatisfactory staff response, unapologetic and only asking for the full price of €142...which is crazy expensive for this type of experience and a Tuesday night in November.

I spent a three nights at the Central Hotel for a wedding weekend. If you want to take in the sights and enjoy the attractions of central Dublin, it's ideally located. It has a wonderful Library Bar and my room was clean and the bed comfy. The plumbing could use some attention: water pressure in the bath/shower was really poor and the handle of one of the taps came off in my hands. The only window in my room had a curtain that could not be raised or opened. That window also admitted noxious cooking odors from the kitchen, and a good bit of noise from Saturday night revellers. Not horrible, and not horribly expensive. But I think I'll try another hotel next time.

The people at the hotel could not have been nicer and more helpful. Loved our room and we loved the "Library Bar" in the hotel. Excellent central location within walking distance to Temple bar, Guiness tap room, Teeling Distillary. Stags head bar. Oniels bar. All great places. definately stay there again.

Booked a weekend away with friends and were very warmly welcomed on reception.our room was on the 3rd floor and getting 4 people into a very small lift with bags was the first struggle. Are room On entry was stuffy and with 4 beds in one room it was going to be a little tight.maybe putting a massive cupboard and a random couple of chairs probably wernt great.the single beds were small and moving throughout the night. The shower had no pressure and it was stuck on boiling hot. The service from cleaners and front staff when we needed anythjng was fantastic. I just think for four people In one tight room was a little much with all the clutter as well I think next time we will get two seperate rooms

Our visit to Dublin was to celebrate a very special birthday with my two daughters. We absolutely loved Dublin, the people, bars with entertainment all night and the shopping however the hotel was a complete let down. On arrival at the hotel the reception area looked tired and the carpet filthy. Our check in was ok but functional and not particularly welcoming. We booked a family room which had a large double bed and a single which was fine but the overall decor was in much need of updating and repair. Paint flaking off the skirting boards, broken furniture, dirty lace curtains and a good layer of dust everywhere. There was mould on the bathroom ceiling and the bathroom radiator flaking with rust. We were woken every morning by the creaky floorboards of the room upstairs. Reception staff were non responsive when we went out in the morning unless we spoke first and in the evening. The smell as entering the hotel was old and broke furniture on the 3rd floor landing. Having said all this the location was perfect.

A lovely hotel right in the center of town. It is located on a busy street and is very close to many popular sites. Therefore, it can be very noisy at night. There is a very cool library/pub on the premises where you can relax with an afternoon tea or an evening pint.

The hotel was a good location near the bars and restaurants. The hotel had all the correct basics, breakfast was fine. A bit noisy at night with the creaking of doors etc, it’s an old hotel, with nice character, just needs some TLC in places to bring it up to standard.

Not a lot to say about this hotel. It’s very tired, dirty, smelly and in need of a total revamp. I certainly won’t stay here again unfortunately! Bathroom is very old, tired and I’m not looking forward to a shower tomorrow. Room smells of stale milk. Tv barely works. Not a good place to stay!
