Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Barebones, bath shower, weird smell for days afterwards, reception attempted to double charge on checkout. No extras like toothpaste etc. Water, toilet paper etc. not replaced daily. Very poor sound insulation. Hardwood floors look good but add to cold vibe.

Great hotel, staff was amazing, morning coffee bar downstairs was wonderful. Only complaint was the duvet was very VERY heavy and we struggled to control the heat in the room so it was pretty warm. Bus stop is literally right in front of the hotel, it’s also walking distance to Tesco, bars and restaurants. Great location and great staff

Absolutely phenomenal experience at this hotel! From when we arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was perfect. The room was clean and simple with lots of space. Additionally, located a quick bus journey from the city centre with the bus stop right outside the hotel was a bonus. I would highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Dublin.

Myself and my partner stayed at the Clayton and thoroughly enjoyed our time and experience. It was made by the great service we received since arriving, friendly staff, comfortable rooms and really good food. The staff were very accommodating and I would definitely recommend to family and friends travelling to Dublin.

Travelled 100's of miles for an event at RDS, left home at 4am, checked into this hotel. Restaurant offers terrible. Burgers seems the best they can do, my team are booked in till Tuesday so need to find somewhere else to eat... Would have expected more than the offerings of a food bar outside a football club.

Hi Puuma, Thank you for taking the time to review your visit. I would like to apologize for the disappointing experience in our Restaurant. We did have a limited buffet offering available in our works being carried out in our kitchen, which we are delighted to confirm has come to completion. However, this is not in line with our usually high standards in our Restaurant so we do deeply apologize again. We hope we will have another opportunity to welcome you back to Clayton Ballsbridge on a future visit, or a much better overall experience. If you have a moment to reach out to us directly to discuss this further it would be greatly appreciated. Clayton Hotel Ballsbridge

Lovely comfortable hotel. Situated nearby RDS and close to Sandymount Dart station. Our second stay at this hotel. Not state of the art modernism but classic and inviting with all the necessary amenities. Lovely dining area and a good breakfast to suit all tastes. Fresh fruit, juices, continental and traditional foods on offer. Look forward to our next visit.

At 7am on a Saturday morning construction above my room started and I had to call reception for it to be stop. Took 30mins ….Just don’t understand why you would allow any construction to be going on that early and in a weekend can’t get my head around it. After that was sorted at 8am groups of women coming home from a night out probably roaring and screaming once again I had to get out of bed to tell them to be quiet. After we all got woken several times we just decided to get up and go for breakfast and of course the one thing most people like in the morning are some eggs no eggs for 30min at breakfast it’s not that hard to keep an eye on when the eggs are get low to start making more before there completely out.. All in all terrible experience wouldn’t come back again and to make it worse the price hotels charge these days is criminal it crazy.

If you want to go back to 1980s or somethings its a nice hotel. I couldn’t turn off the light lamp. Every switch turned on the random lamps in the room it was weird. There is tv but only radio channels work, no internet or netflix or anything in the tv. I was so bored, so I went downstairs to have a pint but even downstairs was boring there was a guy sleeping in the corner I don’t blame him tbh. Oh also, I paid 150 for a night and there is no even shampoo or anything in the bathroom so make sure you bring everything with you. Besides that the bed was comfy and room was clean so points for that.

Entering bedroom, there was the distinctive smell of vomit. got assigned a new room. Room was not 100% cleaned, personal items of previous guest in drawer. Daily room service was not to standard, floors were not vacuumed, complimentary tea items not replaced, went to reception on 2nd day for replacements, gave us replacements and delivered bottled water to room. Items weren't replaced any day of our 3 nights there. Renovating kitchen, there isn't full service and the food that was served was a disgrace. For dinner, €23 for buffet but it was the standard of food that I was shocked with. Dried processed burgers which you had to make your own burger with. Brioche bun, slabs of cheese. Processed chicken supreme for burgers, chicken goujons, lamb stew, mashed potatoes, carrot and parsnips, noodles and empty chip tray. None of the food was warm enough! A 2 star hotel would have done better. I have stayed in this hotel at least 30 times for a couple of days each time and I loved their breakfast spread. Breakfast was not up to standard either and the slab of cheese slices from dinner made their appearance again. After eating, I went to reception to cancel the breakfast that I had booked and paid for the next two days. Duty manager rang me later in the day to refund all days. Rooms need to be renovated, haven't been touched in years and years. Dining room staff going through the motions but were not interested. Reception staff were nice but I saw too much of them! Bar staff were friendly and were the best thing of the entire stay! Overall, so disappointing! I have stayed in the Herbert Hotel nearby before but I always went back to Clayton because I genuinely loved this hotel. I can't believe how bad the standard has gone down. I'm not sure if I will be returning there again!
