Stayed for one night. It was fine, no complaints about the room, it was clean, the bed was comfortable, it was warm, the shower was good but it was basic. Basic is fine and all we needed, however I don't believe the price is basic at €129 for room only.

This was a very comfortable and recently renovated hotel. Not very luxurious, but absolutely fine. The staff were really excellent and the service was very good. However, I would have to say that being asked for a deposit, and then being made to stand for five minutes while someone checked my room before my deposit was returned, was a huge insult. Also, experienced by my fellow musicians who were staying there. We are in the older age group and stay all over the country in many places. We have never experienced this extremely misplaced badly chosen policy. The management should definitely look at this problem and make sure the guests are treated with respect. There should be instinct about who is respectable or not! It would make me query staying there again. Pity because it is a very simple and perfectly OK Hotel.

WOW this place makes FAULTY TOWERS look like a five star Hotel From arrival to departure it is a complete tip Having booked this Hotel we were aware we would need to pay €150 deposit on arrival like a couple in there 60s would trash the room however after some study we realised there would be a night club on the Saturday night no problem we contacted the Queens hotel and was told no guarantee of a quite night but we would be put on the 3rd floor where we had a better chance of quietness Great so off we set the following weekend for our lovely 4 day break away from the madness as i had stayed in this Hotel many many times while on business in the past i explained to my Wife how central it was and how lovely the staff were Well how times change , on arrival i dropped my wife at the door with the bags and went to park the car in the public car park across the road so there is two front doors on the main street i told my wife go to the corner door and reception is just inside as the other door leads to Restaurant /Bar area however due to the fact it was raining and she suffers with severe arthritis she chose the first door after dragging the bags through the restaurant and what is now a cafeteria she was instructed reception was on the first floor (no problem) So after feeding €9 into parking i arrived and was told yes go to 1st floor where i was greeted by the lovely/helpful Lucy who told me my wife had paid the full amount for our 3 nights and was in room 101 great off i go into the maze of ramps swinging doors like something from the sixties find the room to be greeted with i can only describe as a fridge with a wonderful window view of a wall i then made my way back to reception to see if anything could be done about the heat in the room i was told heating is on a timer but Lucy would see what she could do about having it switched on a little earlier After some time back in the room with our coats still on we decided early dinner may be the best bet as it was certainly warmer outside than in this fridge after a lovely dinner elsewhere might i add we returned to the fridge to be greeted with a disco underneath our floor Right here we go again having spoken with our lovely Lucy she agreed there and then to move us to our original booking of the 3rd floor Wow we thought we had been moved to another Hotel fantastic room with 3 large windows overlooking the main street great we have struck gold here So after the usual don the good gear we set off in search of entertainment next door Crusises also belongs to the Hotel we met the lovely Theresa who explained for her sins is 40yrs working there told us band would start at 10.30 but some good music just up the street until then if we wanted we had one drink and took Theresa on her advice we returned to Crusises at aprox 10.45 and had a wonderful night great music and friendly crowd two young men had taken over from Theresa we chatted to one of them and explained we were staying next door about 1pm we decided enough and left for next door ( well then the fun started) after 20mins knocking on both front doors i decided to knock on the pub window to gain access to be greeted with one of theses young men pulling the blinds down great i thought he is coming to the door to assist (NO) after continuous knocking on all pub windows for another 15mins a middle aged lady with one of the young barmen opened the door proceeded to tell us i run this place and if we dident give it up and F**k off she would call the Guards i asked for her name and explained we simply wished to gain access to our room we were then told to go around the side of the Hotel on another street where someone would let us in The young barman opened the side street door and i asked him his name he sneered at us and walked away Day one over well we decided it can only get better now as we NOW know how to gain access after 10pm day two was spent exploring the lovely shops of Ennis and having a lovely lunch out we returned to our room to discover i need to go back out and purchase Toilet rolls and Shampoo as this was not provided or housekeeping had not been in ( no worries ) we are well able to make our bed and tidy up so plan is have early Dinner which we did in the Hotel and was told sorry its 5.30pm we are all out of steak ok we pick something else we return to the room to relax watch the Rugby and then hit the town My wife after some time says her tummy is really unwell and feels dinner did not agree with her theses things happen As always my remedy for jelly belly is a Brandy & Port convinced her if i went to the bar she would try it off i set The first barman in the restaurant had not a clue what i was even asking for he asked assistance from his colleague to whom i explained its i required a double Brandy and Port thats 2 shots 35ml of Brandy and 3 Shots of port 50ml so now the fun started no such a thing on the till as Port so the Lady supervisor was called upon as she fiddled with the till she sent the barman next door for Port i then watched her pour 2 x 35ml of brandy and 3 x 35ml of port Ok Tom dont argue just pay and go this lady then says that will be €32.50 sir (GULP ) i explained sorry my dear you must be mistaken she told me a Brandy was €6.50 and a port was the same price so €6.50 x 5 = €32.50 well you know what when your wife is not well money dosent come into it i gave this lady €50 note and she told me dont say a word i have knocked off the cost of one of the ports so its only €26 not a comment except thank you your very good and back to the room my wife picked up a bit after drinking it which i never told her a glass of pure gold would be cheaper so 10.15 ok well head out for a drink no Hair drier GREAT after 30mins of patting her hair with a towel we headed across the road to Cierans you know what she said i think ill have another Brandy & Port it really helped WELL my heart nearly stopped where was i going to get another Mortgage at this time on a Saturday night none the less asked the bar man for my usual Ballygowan and a Brandy & Port just a single this time pockets are not that deep change out of a Tenner ? what how much is a Brandy & Port i asked €5.50 for the Brandy and 50p for the Port we put the port on the counter and you help yourself as much as you want Is this some type of special i asked Not at all thats normal practice in the west would ye like one yerself on the house i was asked i declined and took a picture of the Port bottle beside the Brandy measure a great night of music and chat Sunday was spent touring the beautiful Clare coastline that evening we decided we would pay Cruises bar and explain our costly beverage to Theresa unfortunately had finished her shift but we were greeted by the same young men So yous are back for more we were asked we decided then enough do not engage with any staff member here as i beggars belief the training that they are giving Following morning at check out we were told your deposit will be returned to you as soon as housekeeping clears that the room is ok Deposit i said sure we paid the full €375.30 on arrival I know he said but we took additional €150 security on the room we await repayment of that SO IF YOUR PLANNING A VISIT TO ENNIS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED ABOUT ONE PLACE TO AVOID Tom & Rose Kildare

I stayed at this “hotel” last week where when we got to check in we witnessed a man and his son be refused booked accommodation due to the hotel strictly refusing children. The Man behind the desk spoke in a rude and condescending manner to the man and his child. It was very difficult to watch he was left with nowhere to go after a long journey. When we got to the room ourselves. It was very outdated and the bathroom was in a disgusting stage. The fire alarm was set off at 6AM with no explanation. Would definitely not stay here again

The disco which goes to 3am kept me up and I had an early morning. Front desk staff said I “signed a waver” whatever that means. I did not! I was unaware there would be loud music until it started at 11:30pm. Horrible experience. Indifferent staff. Beware.

We stayed one night. We had seen poor Hotel reviews on this site. We can only think the reviewers were staying at another Hotel!! The room was clean. Our beds very comfortable. The white towels were excellent. Bath with Power shower. nice gels and soaps. Our Full Irish Breakfast used top quality products and was served HOT. We meet friends in the Coffee House. The nice Coffee was served hot and the snacks were quality. We arrived close to midnight. The two security and other staff we encountered were all pleasant and well trained. A credit to the Owners. We will be back again soon.

The staff at the Queens Hotel made our lives so much easier while working on a local project. A few of us were coming down regularly to work with two schools and the staff at the hotel were so helpful, recommending where to grab food late at night on arrival, giving us our early morning coffees and teas in the cafe to start us off and even helping us find a spot to shoot a video interview with the artists we were working with. Special thanks to Eva and Sam in particular!

We stayed here for one night as a family for a family event we were attending. There were a lot of us so price was an issue and this was the cheapest hotel we could find - but even so we had to pay £300 for one night for two rooms so it was more than a Travelodge. One room was in the refurbished bit and was ok - Travelodge standard - basic but clean. The other was in the unrefurbished bit and was considerably sub-Travelodge standard. There was no hair dryer as advertised, the TV did not work, the room smelt of stale cigarettes, the trumpeted toiletries are small and very basic - no conditioner - there were no bedside lights so we had to use our phone torch to read as the 40w bulb in the overhead light wasn’t strong enough to see. So all in all very disappointing for the price we paid - and i really objected to having to pay a £150 damage deposit for a room of this standard!

Based on previous reviews my expectations were very low. However, they were more than surpassed based on our experiences. When we arrived at 4pm our rooms were ready. We were offered 1 recently renovated room & 1 slightly older. Both were clean, tidy and comfortable - perfectly adequate. The renovated room has been completed to a much higher standard than the older rooms. It was trendy and smart. The hotel is definitely heading in the right direction if they continue to make their rooms up to this quality. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The food in the cafe and restaurant downstairs was fabulous. The local area is pleasant and welcoming. Notes based on complaints from previous reviews: - We had to pay a €150 deposit for each room on arrival. This was expected and noted in booking confirmation. - No Wifi (or if there was it was not advertised) - No mirror to get ready in the room, only bathroom - No tea & coffee facility in the room I am really not sure where the extremely poor reviews have come from because my family’s experiences were so beyond what has been described by other reviewers. We totally were surprised by the condition of the hotel we stayed in and it is a shame that the reputation of it is quite low. Hopefully with the new updates to the facilities the hotel sees a positive move in the right direction.
