Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Passed in by chance on Sunday afternoon for food and had a fabulous meal. Went for the Sunday special . Shared two starters , the haggis tempura and the pate, 3 of had the Sunday Roast beef which was amazing , the best Yorkshire puddings we’ve had in ages and a fish and chips which was also lovely and fresh with a crispy batter. 2 deserts to share the minstrel cheesecake was amazing. Staff were so friendly and helpful , especially the lovely young girl who looked after us ( sorry we didn’t get your name but good luck with your exams. Will definitely return especially for the roast dinner

Service was terrible at dinner, feel as though it was not the waitresses fault due to lack of staff. Mixed reviews of food between 9 people, had lasagne which was pooling in grease and could not stomach to finish. Waiting staff were unaware of the dishes they were serving to us referring to the Cullen skink as “the fish thing”. Room and bathroom were very clean. Single glazed windows allowed ALOT of outside noise, especially at 1:30am when hotel staff decided this would be a good time to take out bins etc for 45 mins and shouting/chatting loudly. Breakfast took a long time to be served, long enough that we were still there past checkout time and had been locked out of our rooms with all our things still in. Very accommodating to dogs, wasn’t aware they weren’t allowed in restaurant but they set up a table for us in the lounge which was thoughtful.

Hotel spotless. Food amazing. The staff are really lovely and so helpful and pleasant, from housekeeping, waiting staff, chef, managers and owners they provide a first class service! My cousin struggled with the stairs up to the attic room. The owner pulled out all the stops to move us to room 22 which is out of this world! Will definitely return. Couple of mins walk to town centre, pubs, restaurants and bus station. Right on the sea front. We honestly couldn’t fault it. Thanks to all the staff and owner for a great stay x

Very friendly hotel in a nice location with excellent restaurant. A traditional “non chain” establishment with very pleasant atmosphere and excellent staff. I have stayed twice now and on both occasions enjoyed great service in nice surroundings. Ideal for both business or leisure visits

Was not the best hotel I've ever stayed in. When we arrived at 2.30 , we were advised the room would not be ready till 3pm, which is fair enough, but my idea of a room being ready is it is warm when I walk in ( was not the case here ), and as for the radiator, it did not work during my 3 night stay ( I'm just glad the heated towel rail in the bathroom let a little heat into the bedroom ) Admittedly I did not complain, so I guess I have to take responsibility as well, however they state in.prevíous posts the reason it is 3pm check in is, so the room is ready, but entering a cold room is hardly welcoming. I can understand why some people like this hotel, but I've seen it stayed in it, and won't be back ( my opinion ), but will be a frequent visitor to Ayr in the future !!

We stayed 1 night horizon hotel for girls football awards night in Prestwick. I parked outside in council car park no restrictions as its only Monday to Friday 8-6pm they apply. Nice hotel we stayed room 35 in attic. Room was warm skylight windows with no curtains or blinds but I wanted up early so I could visit local gym. Free breakfast included in price free cereal tea coffee juices etc plus option of full scottish. I had bacon scrambled eggs tomato mushroom and haggis which was one of cleanest freshest breakfasts I've had in hotel , and it was warm not cold which was bonus. 100% would stay again

A wonderful stay, at short notice during family emergency Tracey stepped up and was beyond kind and helpful. Welcoming and warm, fabulous breakfasts, restaurant evening meal was really good, cosy lounge with a gas fire that I wish we had at home! The setting is superb, one stormy evening and next morning dawned crisp and clear, walked with dog on the beach. Their dog-attitude is fabulous, he got sausages for breakfast too. I could not recommend highly enough, the staff were uniformly friendly and helpful.
