Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Superb venue and lives up to the Hilton name, would highly recommend. City and sights easily accessed via taxi or local services. Restaurant immaculate and food was great. Local amenities also very convenient. Wild highly recommemd, as a venue for a relaxing time.

Hotel's Favourite
We thoroughly recommend the Hilton! • Hugely successful 5-night stay! Coordinated over email prior to stay with amazingly helpful Floriana and enjoyed meeting her in person, along with the wonderful personable staff throughout the stay. Thank you for the lovely junior suite! The room was so very quiet, and its beds and linens so very comfortable. We enjoyed both the Executive Lounge and the Restaurant. Both had friendly staff and wonderful breakfasts, happy hours and dinners. We also delighted in conversations with other guests – comparing notes and activities. • In addition, thank you for encouraging us to make advance bookings for the Castle, Hollyrood Palace and Tea, Royal Yacht Brittania and Tea, and Parliament – for some sites were sold-out. Plus, we benefitted from the free National Gallery, National Museum and Modern Art Museums 1 and 2. The National Museum has many amazing exhibits to include the Millennium Clock, Dolly the Sheep, Race Cars, Atom Smasher. The National Museum was perfect for us as engineers, but I could see it as wonderful for families too. • The hotel was quite well located – walk uphill to the Castle and national Gallery and downhill to the Palace and Parliament and National Museum. There were many nearby restaurants and whiskey tasting rooms too. We took advantage of the Majestic Hop on Hop off Bus as transportation to the Royal Yacht Britannia and as a lovely tour of the City. Its nearby stop was Waterloo and we bought our tickets at that moment. Uber transported us with the Modern Art. While we didn’t use the trains, Waverly station was in the next block. • Moreover, we seized the opportunity for a private bespoke tour guide Graeme Johncock with “Scotlands-stories” dot com. Graeme listened to our interests and customized one day to the Scottish Highlands and a second day to the Scottish Lowlands. He blended our interests in engineering, history, arts, people and even agriculture. Throughout both days, Graeme had unbounded energy and piqued our interests with vibrant and well-timed Scotland’s Stories. Moreover, he was a safe, smooth and courteous driver.

Great hotel with exceptional staff. Everyone was extremely friendly and eager to make my stay as comfortable as possible. The breakfast were fantastic. They catered for my body building diet which requires me to have 8 poached eggs and a double espresso. On one of the days they had it ready for me before I even asked. I would like to especially thank Lou, Corazon, Lene, Djilali and Maleek. They worked tireless at breakfast, always had a smile on their faces and were a credit to the Hilton brand. Looking forward to my next stay here. Keep up the great work guys. Sacha

We had a great stay at Hilton Carlton, our room was spacious with a great view and the breakfast had a wide range of options. Susana greeted us upon arrival, checked us in early and gave us great advice on what to visit during our first visit in Edinburgh.

Had a great experience on our stay, everyone was incredibly friendly but I do have to give a big shout out to the bar team (Ben, Isabella, Eilidh and Thea) who were welcoming and make great cocktails to relax after a long day of walking! They also have a small menu available at the bar for a quick bite.

We arrived too eqrly for check in, hoping to leave our bags before heading out for the day but Stavvos checked if our room was available and let us check in early. He made us feel really welcome and made our stay on my husbands birthday that bit more special. We had cocktails in the bar before heading out, had our breakfast delivered to our room in the morning and had a late check out. We can’t wait to come back 🙂
