Avoid, breakfast not good for a supposed 4 star hotel not a lot of choice. Very poor. Standard rooms like a shoe box with nowhere to put luggage eg. Rooms 206 202 and similar. Room P6 and similar and below ground level with foyer above and constant loud thumping echoing through ceiling sounding like a herd of elephants. Squeaky and... More

At the end of October last year I booked a single room in this hotel for the weekend of the marathon at the end of May. In all honesty, I didn't care if it was 2* or 5*, it was all about location. As I was travelling solo for this event I wanted to keep travel costs, travel time and... More

This hotel is beautiful and in a very nice location. A bit far from the Royal Mile and Castle but just at the bottom of Carlton Hill which is a must see for views of the city. The staff is extremely friendly, kind, and helpful. We went on a 3 day tour between reserved night stays here and they were... More

I travelled on business for two weeks to Edinburgh after 14 years. The company had booked me the Royal Terrace Hotel. Having got out of the Emirates Business class where I had been pampered for nearly ten hours, I was a bit disappointed when I opened the doors to the room allotted to me (206). The room was perhaps the... More

Stayed at the Royal Terrace Hotel in Scotland for 4 nights. After 20 to 30 mins walk got to the hotel which the hotel claim is 5-10 mins walk from Waverly Station. We were met by a very arrogant receptionist ( not at all helpful) I had requested in my booking a second floor room I was told that because... More

I spent a night there on a business trip, but the booking was made by someone else, and I would never choose to go back there. My first impression was not great, as the carpet in the reception area was shabby and the receptionists were chatting among each other, rather than attending to their guest. When I opened the door... the room was small ,musky and decor was shabby. it would appear that the hotel is in the middle of refurbishment ,the main clue to this was when we opened the curtains a squad of workies were stairing back from there official teabreak area of behind a skip parked at the pavement right outsidehe window. being British workies the spent... My sister and I stayed 2 nights at this hotel with a Travelzoo offer. The hotel is pleasant and clean, in quiet location only 10 -15 mins walk from Princes Street. The staff were friendly and helpful and the twin bedded room was a reasonable size with facilities as advertised. The room overlooked the hotel's lovely rear garden backing on... More

Stayed here earlier this year for a rugby weekend. Staff were attentive and organised, hotel was well located, comfortable and rooms were spacious and well appointed. Only negative was the cost of the breakfast, which seemed slightly expensive for the quality and variety of options offered. Would definitely stay here again.
