Stayed here last week for 2 nights, check in was very quick lady on reception very polite and helpful. Room was just as you would expect for a thistle hotel, clean, tidy, tea/coffee facilities. The only minor problem we had was someone was smoking in room next to us on the first night, but had no problems after that. Would... More

If memory serves me correctly, they claim 4 star rating yet there was no aircon and the ceiling fan made more noise than the traffic in the street. The latter being extremely noisy as I had to open the window to cool the room down. There was coffee but no indication as to where it was. I stumbled across it... More

Mature couple. Booked overnight stay to be in the City centre.Good location near theatre/cinema/restaurants. Room clean and spacious although, as to be expected, there was some traffic noise. Not so good was being able to hear the occupants of the next room. Glad the room was discounted, it certainly was not worth the advertised rate. Hotel advertised parking on site(at... More

We booked this hotel for three nights, arriving on New Years day. On arrival the reception was empty, attempted to check into the room and we were very rudely told that we could not check in despite it being past the 2pm check in time. The manner of the receptionist was awful, she suggested we go away and come back... More

Good points : Location, we went up for Hogmanay and the location is excellent. Staff, all the staff were helpful and friendly. Bad Points: Room - for a 4 star rated hotel we were very dissapointed, the room was small, dated and dirty in placed with Mould in the bathroom and on the windowsills. We paid a significant amount of... More

Went for a friends birthday, there were 4 of us and we booked in for a night. My friend got the rooms at a discounted price and they were definitely worth it. Nice clean rooms, comfy beds. Excellent location for shopping and theatre. The staff were very helpful, kept our cases as we arrived before check-in and kept them again... More

Needed a hotel in this area for one night and this was the most convenient by far. Booked it at a special rate, though was a bit put out when three days after booking, a further significand reduced rate was advertised. You can't win them all! The room was of a better standard than I expected though it was at... More

We usually stay in King James Thistle when visiting Edinburgh and have just returned from a midweek break. Situated in Leith Street, just round the corner from Princess Street it is very convenient to the Omni Centre and Edinburgh Playhouse. There is easy access from the hotel into King James shopping centre where a large branch of John Lewis is... More

Spent christmas weekend there...hotel in a very good location.central to all the attractions. They kindly let us leave our bags after we had checked out as we had our flight was in the evening. Saved us a few quid and hassle to leave it elsewhere. The only snag was the room was quite small and the bathroom was smaller. The... More

This is a lovely hotel, very well presented and clean with superbly friendly and helpfull staff. We had room only as we just needed a place to stay after the theatre. However, even though the bed was huge and comfortable we didn't get much sleep thanks to the windows allowing in amost of the major traffic noise and the drunks... More
