A real piece of Scotish History in a Georgian Terrace well located in Newtown, the Royal Scots Club provides excellent accommodation, meals, lounges and meeting rooms and exceptional value. Furthermore you are welcomed personally and enjoy a very different experience to stating in a hotel. I would never stay anywhere else in Edinburgh.

My wife and I spent two nights in the hotel to attend a local function and enjoy the city. The hotel was very well located for all of Edinburgh's sites, handy but just far enough away to be quiet (it faces a small private park). The interior is very much a "military officer 's club" and has a great deal... More

First the good points... 1) If you want to be close to the center of Edinburgh this is a great location in a nice area. 2) The four poster room was spacious. Unfortunately there are many bad points... 1) The staff are uninformed about simple things such as the parking in the front of the hotel. 2) The first thing... More

I stayed here in a gorgeous room with four poster bed, fireplace, and large pace filled with wonderful decorations. Location is well within walking distance to all major attractions along with train station, bus stops, and taxi stands. Most rooms include breakfast, which is quite nice. Very good climate control and all the luxuries you could want for the price.... More

great location in new town, minutes away from old town, the train station, the bus depot, etc. room was very nice, service friendly, and the price is more than respectable. only gripe is that some of the rooms are in the basement and the window just looks out on an alley... but it is at least a quiet alley.

stayed here last week (april 2013) and quite enjoyed my stay. a clean, large, tastefully decorated room (with a kitchen!?) was my home for a few days while visiting in Edinburgh. Staff was very nice. Easily accessible to and/or from Waverley station this was a charming hotel in New Town.

We had our wedding at the Royal Scots Club and couldn't have been happier with everything. The facilities are brilliant, the staff are attentive and helpful and ensured our day went smoothly. The food had many favourable comments from our guests and our hotel room was fantastic topped off with a great Scottish breakfast. All round fantastic place.

The hotel situated near the new town with approximately 10-15 minutes walk from Edinburgh waverley train station. It used to be a private club for veterans of Scottish regiments, which give it a unique atmosphere. We stayed in the standard room(15) on B1 floor, which actually not a basement. There is only 2 room in the area, which is very... More

In a world of endless brown throws, chrome door handles and turquoise accents, stands this beacon of quiet, understated civilisation. Large elegant rooms with traditional brown wood furniture, firm beds, a choice of easy chairs and heavy, swagged curtains. Thick carpets muffle sounds and lend a wonderful calm. Not that they scrimp on the mod-cons, slippers, robes, toiletries, iron and... More

Great location. We had a lovely view of Edinburgh Castle and could easily walk to the Royal Mile for historic walks, shopping and pubs. The club itself is in wonderful condition. Very historic, staff was great, room was very nice. We had the pleasure of being there when they were having a reunion of military personnel from past conflicts to... More
