Spent 3 nights with my wife on dbb basis. The room was very clean and spacious. The bed very comfortable. Food was outstanding and I don't think you could get better in kirkcudbright . An excellent base to explore Dumfries and Galloway. It is also a short walk into town. Owners Olive and Alistair could not have been more helpful. Good... More

Galloway is a beautiful part of Scotland, and Kirkcudbright is a beautiful part of Galloway. The host at Anchorlee, Alastair and Olive were very friendly and hospitable. The breakfast's were excellent , the rooms were clean and comfortable. We went trout fishing at Moffat,(thanks to the lovely lady in the information centre in Kirkcudbright who phoned around to find a place... More

We stayed five nights at Anchorlee, making it home base while we attended a conference in Kirkcudbright and Gatehouse of Fleet. It was a great choice for us because we could come and go as we needed and because Olive and her husband are such hospitable people. The house itself was a pleasure, a 130-year-old Victorian brownstones built before the... More

This very upsetting and unfair review has been left by two guests who totally abused our hospitality and overstayed their welcome. Our past reviews speak for themselves. More

Just for fun we devised a 13 point check list of key features we looked for in a good B&B. The best similar priced 4 star hotels we had stayed in were used as benchmarks and we considered everything from breakfast, to car parking, to location,to bath room functionality and quality. After each B&B we scored the accommodation. The best... More

We received a very warm welcome despite the fact that we were 5 cyclists who had just been caught in a torrential downpour! The rooms were very comfortable and we were able to dry ourselves out and our gear, with the aid of the central heating even though it was meant to be summer! The breakfasts are to die for... More

My wife and I found this after working down the Trip Advisor rated hotels and B&Bs. As each of the others showed up full, we were becoming concerned, but there was absolutely no need for this. Anchorlee is a lovely property with genuine welcoming hosts in Olive and Alistair, amazing English breakfast and just a comfortable relaxing place to stay. More
