Nice bed and breakfast near the centre of Kirkcudbright. A family home too, but very quiet and welcoming. The breakfasts are good, and Barry prides himself on the standard of cooking. The menu is very different from the usual fry up. One communal table for all the guests - quite fun but not so good if you prefer privacy whilst... More

Host Barry is very enlightened & a talented chef, takes good care of guests. Great variety of art hanging everywhere. Great tattie scone & berry french toast. Can walk anywhere in Kirkcudbright center from here. Free internet access, which is rare in UK B&B's in my experience. You will not be disappointed. More

An old house with good atmosphere, in the old part of the town. A nice lounge for guests and cosy dining room. We pity we didn't have diner, the breakfast being one of the best we had in Scotland. Very helpful and entertaining owner who loves (and knowes a lot about) football. The room was quite small, comfortable bed. Equipment... More

Stayed overnight from the Sunday to Monday . Guest house is spotless and very tastefully decorated. The owner was welcoming and friendly but let you have your privacy.Food was very good and the sitting room was very inviting indeed. It's right in the centre so 2 minutes walk to everywhere.Would highly recommend this place and would definately go back. Just back from a weekend at Sassoon House B&B. We experienced a fantastic welcome and service from Barry and family. The single occupancy rate is particularly reasonable. Meals were all lovely. Dinner is not cheap but do treat yourself at least once in your stay. All the guests that we met were agreed that it is easily the best food you... More

We stayed 2 nights in October 2009, we enjoyed the hospitality and the great food at this friendly bed and breakfast. The location was excellent; short walk to the harbour and the other interests the town had to offer. The Gateway to Fleet well worth a visit along with the magnificant coastal drives. More

One of the nicest places we've ever stayed in. We had a wonderful stay at this friendly and stylish guesthouse. Our room had beautiful views over the castle and the bathroom a lovely view over the river, the lounge was comfortable and relaxed - the whole place is beautifully styled. We would entirely recommend staying for dinner which will be... More

We spent two nights with Barry and his family and had a relaxing and enjoyable visit. Barry is a terrific chef - don't miss out out his dinners! Our rooms were quiet and comfortable with nice little touches and access to the lounge was an added bonus. Overall a really good experience. More

The weather could not spoil our trip to Kircudbright and Sassoon House, we stayed in the Stewart and Buchanan rooms, the stewart room was the larger room with en suite bathroom and the Buchanan has a private bathroom. I must admit I did not reliease the difference and would much prefer en suite although the private bathroom was newly done... More

Stayed here for one night whilst touring Galloway and loved it! As the previous reviewer stated it was friendly but not forced. It actually seemed like the family were really pleased to have us staying with them. The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. The breakfast was excellent and just the right amount. We didn't have dinner but the other... More
