Llanthony Priory is the most authentic experience I have ever enjoyed. I have stayed in hotels all over the world and this I the best place I javelin ever stayed. A truly memorable and atmospheric experience. The medieval priory is amazing. The rooms are authentic and the food excellent. It transports you back in time and coupled with the views... More

This is my second trip and I could hardly wait to get there. It is the best nights sleep ever! No M4. No Heathrow flight path .. bliss. Better yet, no technology! No mobile signal in the valley, no surround sound. It really is a complete break from silicon valley. The fresh food is locally sourced and the ale is... More

This has to be a unique hotel- we stayed at the top room which is 60 winding spiral steps from the ground floor. Lovely views of the priory through the low level window and a four poster bed to sleep in. Excellent and atmospheric bar with a choice of ales plus tea and coffee. We had an evening meal in... More

Walking through the Bible Pass, across Lord Hereford's knob, Llanthony Priory jumps out of the Black Mountains for the weary traveller. Surprising to find a small pub in the ruins of a Priory, maybe the monks took a pragmatic view of their devotions. Interesting old photos on display in the small bar, not least ancient chestnut trees still growing nearby,... More

I first came across this hotel when hill walking in the area. It was so dark you couldn't see a hand in front of your face and then we came across the faint lights of the Llanthony Priory Hotel. Magical! A few beers in the cellar bar later and we vowed to return as guests. My daughter and I duly... More

We have stayed at the priory for a long weekend twice now and each time we have had a fantastic time x It's a world away from London peaceful tranquil with amazing views and walks straight from the priory. Shelia is a force to be reckoned with and always seems to be there serving delicious dinners and lunches . Will... More

We stayed here for two nights during a fantastic three week walking holiday all over South Wales. The hotel is a great, rambling old building set amongs the beautiful Black Mountains. Great service all around and a fantastic atmosphere in the little pub built into it. Yes, you might find the odd cobweb, but really, what would you expect in... More

It's £87.50 for a night's stay to stay in any one of the 4 tower rooms. We chose the top and thought it would be worth it for a once in a lifetime experience. Boy. was. I. wrong!. This place hasn't been cleaned it seems since the 12th century! There were cobwebs in every corner and on the fourposter. We... More

Many thanks for your feedback on your stay at our 12th century priory. It’s a shame that obviously by your harsh critic of our hotel, felt unable to express your concerns/views to us face to face or via our guest book at the time of your departure. However, upon reading your other reviews and the responses given we see this... More

Peaceful, historic, unique, comfortable and a million spiral stone stairs. Good 'pub grub' at night, a full plate at breakfast and amazing scenery. A perfect weekend thanks to all the team!

My partner and I recently stayed at the Priory Hotel for some much needed time to ourselves. It did not disappoint. I found myself continually delighted with the whole experience and our stay will remain filed in amongst my fondest memories. I had met the indomitable Sheila before, and on that occasion didn't quite know how to take her directness...... More
