My favourite thing was the fish and chips! Looks like the poor- man’s option on the menu but don’t miss it. All the food was excellent and our plan to eat in a different place each night got cancelled after the first night! We wanted somewhere central and this is it. Put the car in the car park and leave... More

I loved the look and atmosphere of this hotel. The breakfasts were amazing and the staff friendly and helpful. Location brilliant and rooms very cosy. Downside was noise from several sources. Sunday morning the path/road sweepers at 7 am were extremely loud with no double glazing. Bottles crashing into vehicle recycling??? at 6.30 each morning, again extremely loud. Smokers in... More

Stayed on a Monday night for my 21st birthday with my boyfriend, was worried that given how nice the place is, the staff would be intimidating but everyone was informal, friendly and relaxed. We had room 12 which was beautifully furnished and had great views of the old town. The only downfall I would say is parking is difficult and... More

Superb value for money, very friendly and welcoming staff. Excellent room with quality toiletries, chocolates etc.. Only 5 mins walk from the Theatre. We had a very enjoyable pre theatre dinner, they even kept my cheese board aside until we returned from the theatre - what a selection of cheeses! Relaxed friendly atmosphere we would highly recommend it and we... More

We have just returned from the most amazing mini break at this treat of a hotel. We booked through Mr and Mrs Smith after reading great reviews online. It did not disappoint and was the perfect way to celebrate our first anniversary of marriage. We had been upgraded to one of the best bedrooms and found a full bottle (not... More

Our group returned here for a dinner in the library enjoying their fixed price table d'hote group menu-a choice of 4 starters, 6 main, 5 pudds and a delicious cheese platter. Good house wine, first class food and friendly service-top notch. Highly recommended with 5 big stars for their every-so efficient front desk and administration-everything we asked for was quickly agreed... More

Stayed for three nights in April 2013. Stayed in Bedroom 3 (the one in the main photo). The staff were incredibly nice, knowledgeable of the local area and always willing to help out with any problems. The restaurant and bar downstairs are brilliant and the restaurant is well-worth a reservation. Slight downside is there is no on-site parking, but there... More

My Wife and I stayed for two nights in February to celibrate my 50th birthday. As soon as we set foot in the Hotel we were warmly greeted and helped with our luggage to our room. The rooms are very well appointed and have nice little touches like shortbread and a small decanter of port free of charge. The food... More

Had a fantastic stay at this lovely small hotel. From the moment we pulled up outside to leaving the next day we were treated like family. Huge bed, huge bathroom with great products, fantastic, 10 out of 10.. Too many little extras in the room to mention but the finishing touch of port and cookies was the icing on the... More

A nicely decorated hotel which is ideal for a stop over in Stratford-upon-Avon. We would definitely stop there again if we're passing through in the future. Breakfast was very tasty with a good choice. The bar on arrival also looked very busy and buzzy. Overall a good atmosphere.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
This independently owned boutique hotel is housed in a 400 year old listed building in the heart of Stratford upon Avon. Located opposite Shakespeare's school, among the ancient half-timbered buildings the town is famous for and only 2 minute's walk to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. This is THE place for a pre-theatre supper - local pianists play at 5.30pm daily and the atmosphere is great. The 12 funky en-suite bedrooms vary in size, cost and view. Try for a room at the front of the building for the perfect view. Great food is served all day, through till 10pm in this buzzy neighbourhood bistro with Afternoon Tea a particular favourite. Champagne Happy Hour is every Friday at 5pm and the bar is packed with a great, upmarket local crowd. The staff make the place and nothing is too much trouble. ... more   less
