The hotel room was lovely with a very welcome bathroom after a long day's walking down the Hadrian's Wall Trail! The double bed was comfy too... I liked the food served in the Keelman's Lodge itself... very hot and spicy chillis [just as it should be] in the main dish and a nice mixed grill as a starter. Obviously not... More

Great place to stay. It was great having a bath as my body was really sore after walking to 12-15 miles from walls end walking on pavement it was a real life saver. Rooms where very nice and great pub. The tv didn't work thou even after asking several times. But it was a buzzy Friday nightnformthe staff. Great packed... More

This was our final stop on the Hadrians Wall Walk. Nice room with a decent bed and shower. The pub/restaurant was lively and very nice, would happily have stayed longer. Staff all seemed helpful. This place is ideally located if you are walking Hadrians Wall, it leaves you roughly 12m from the end at Wallsend.

This was our first overnight stop on the walk from East to West, chosen primarily because of the micro-brewery. The beers were varied and all very good (and they were also very reasonably priced and well presented by an excellent knowledgeable barman), and the food (both dinner and breakfast) was also good value. The attached B&B was very comfortable and... More

I should have written a review before now....as i visit regularly with my family. The food is very good, the prices are reasonable and the staff give great, friendly service. My favourite meal is the supurb mix grill. I also love the Beer that is served here. It is brewed on site. My favourite is the Prince Bishop - a... More

We went on a Saturday early evening and it was busy. Sat in the conservatory overlooking the patio and garden. The food was really good, however they had no sparkling water! The staff were good and one showed us the family room (for a future stay there) which was nice and had a double bed and two singles, a lot... More

Big Lamp beers - superb condition and very very reasonably priced, it was £9-odd for four pints of excellent ales. Compare this to £13-odd in Newcastle's Centurion for four poorly kept beers later in the day. The friendly guy behind the bar was informative and knew his beers, always a good sign in a beer drinker's bar. Two of our... More

This place really annoys me. Great location, Real Ale and on a nice day there's no better place be... And that's where it stops... Where do I start...Firstly 'invest' ..modernise and give the place a really good clean. The outdoor furniture needs a good jet wash and a lick of varnish, as well replacing the 3 large umbrellas with outdoor... More

We stayed here earlier this week while visiting family nearby. It was a short drive into the centre of Newcastle. Our room was in a separate block a few yards away from the pub which meant it was quiet. The room was large, nice and warm on a very cold day, and spotlessly clean. Being next door to a pub/brewery... More

Have stayed here several times now (once for work but otherwise as a stopping off point on the way North/South). A genuine welcome, friendly and relaxing atmosphere, good food and great beer. The room was well maintained, clean and comfortable. We know the original owners who converted it from a derelict pumping station to a brewery, pub and B &... More
