Before I visited this hotel I was abit worried, as I had read many reviews on here, but I was gladly surprised to find out that it was actually a very nice hotel. Something that had worried about me was the complaints about the noise from the metro. Although we weren't in the closest room to the metro line, we... More

Spent one night last week on business. My room was somewhat dated but was of good size and had an excellent view over the River Tyne. The rooms were well equipped but equipment (the hair dryer and tea/coffee facilities) were merely functional. The bathroom was clean except for one or two places where grouting needed attention. However, the bed was... More

Stayed here on business for just one night, thankfully no longer. Location is superb as as the views of the Tyne from every room. On the negative side this hotel is so cold. The aircon/heater combo in the room would only churn out cold air. I have never been so cold in a hotel in my life. Even the corridors... More

Every room in this hotel overlooks the river Tyne and what a view it is. Gone are the shipyards, which, of course, had their own rough beauty, to be replaced by bars and restaurants and across the river in Gateshead 3 triumphant architectural gems, The Sage music and opera house, the Millennium Bridge and the The Baltic Arts Centre. As... More

Stayed here with friends on the 28th, night manager very rude, but when checked in the girls at reception were friendly. This is not a 4star hotel, room was so cold, and music from the bar could heard all night, was glad my stay was over More

Thank you for your constructive feedback. Sorry to learn you had a mixed stay. Negative staff feedback is very rare indeed, as this is normally the biggest strength of the hotel through employing friendly local staff. The bedroom comfort system is also being upgraded at present, following issues experienced in a number of bedrooms during the current cold snap. I... More

The Copthorne Newcastle is not the newest or most glamorous of hotels, but it is comfortable and clean and every room has a view over the River Tyne. The rooms are spacious and well equipped.
