I have stayed twice at the Malmaison in Oxford. First time was wowed by the quirky rooms and unique hotel.. stayed there with my husband on a weekend break and for this I would highly recommend the hotel. This time however, I went back with colleagues for work, including our board meeting which was held in the hotel.. bedrooms still... More

Stayed for 1 night. Room was nice and comfortable. Interesting hotel formally a prison, the corridors and landing area are really quirky as are the cell doors which lead to the converted rooms. Breakfast was good but service at breakfast was questionable, they stopped serving at 10am and at 9.50 I felt I was being rushed to order which I... More

We did not stay in Malmaison, but we want to notice somebody from this place. Jackie on reception is a living star, he showed to us the hotel and possibilities of this place (special rooms ;) ) plus he helped us with a taxi, and gave us a great advise about Oxford and places within. We would like to thank... More

We had a one of the converted cell rooms and it was lovely, but we had some problems with the heating but we were provided with a plug in radiator. The room had sealed windows so there was a vent that seemed to just be chucking in cold air all the time - we plugged it up with paper which... More

Dear eve-boots, thank you for your review on Tripadvisor. As you mentioned, there is a natural air vent that circulates air from outside, this is a legal requirement if the room does not have windows that open, though the vent does switch off at night to ensure a comfortable night sleep. My apologies for the bathroom flooring being cold, with... More

A group of us decided to stay at this hotel as we quite liked the idea of staying in an old prison. However, all our rooms were located in the new wing which meant that we could have been staying in any hotel room in any city as all the rooms were brand new and nothing like the old prison rooms.... Before staying at the Malmaison I read through a number of reviews on different sites. I'm pleased to say that I didn't experience any of the issues that some reviewers reported. I stayed in room 405, which is one of the newer rooms, not one of the old cells. The room was very clean, very well decorated, plenty of space,... More

Hi We booked this hotel because of the photos and reviews. Booked through Late rooms and expecting what we saw in the pics, ....no way. Our room was in the annex!!, nothing like a prison, though the room was fine, clean and good shower, TV with poor picture. We might as well have just booked a normal hotel, cheaper also.... More

Went here for my birthday with my family, cannot say how the food is but the rooms are so different!!! Some people might be use to prison cells but what a fantastic change, wierd that you might be sleeping in the same room as a killer!!!! Staff are great! Would say if you want to park your car book in... More
