Four of us stayed two nights at the Bat and Ball as we were lunching at Le Manoir and wanted to stay as close as possible without having to pay £1000 per night! We chose it because of its location and the excellent website, plus a good many positive reviews. First the plus points: the staff are lovely, from Sophie... More

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to leave a review of your recent stay here at The Bat & Ball. We welcome your great comments on our team, we pride ourselves on good, friendly service and I'm glad that you felt myself and my staff delivered on this. Stayed following a wedding with the evening do held in the pub. On this level was a nice pub, good atmosphere, friendly staff and a nice fire. The accommodation, selected purely as we were already there and it seemed to make sense to stay, was where it all went wrong. The room was literally tiny and could barely fit us... More

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on Tripadavisor. I am sorry to hear that you had such a disappointing stay with us last week. We have looked at all the points raised and taken action accordingly, the most important one being the bed. A new one has been ordered and and the cushion has been thoroughly... More

Lots of good things to say about the pub, nice atmosphere, lovely fire, fantastic food (strongly recommend the burger!) really dog friendly and nice village location. However, we had a few issues with the accommodation. Firstly the room was very small, it lacked personality, more of a glorified Travel Lodge. The smell of a plug-in was overwhelming - personally I'm not... More

We found this a warm a friendly pub in a quiet village about 6 miles outside Oxford. The staff are friendly, the room was of average size and the bed was comfortable. The bar area is a mix of the old with a log burning stove, and a more modern extension which you can also eat in if you wish... More

The Bat and Ball provided a good base for a few days in and around Oxford at the beginning of October. The room was perfectly adequate with a clean, comfortable bed and all the facilities we needed. All the staff were very friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfasts were good. We chose to eat each night... More

This is a proper pub, with good real ales as well as lager & great Thatchers cider. The welcome is friendly, and it remains so, and rooms cozy but clean. And good value. We didn't eat because we had been to the Manoir, but we did enjoy a hearty breakfast with decent coffee. When you stay at a pub all... More

Find somewhere else! Don't stay here unless you just want a quick drink. Although first impressions were of a warm cosy pub on a rainy night - these soon faded! We booked The Bat & Ball Inn because of various positive reviews and I had an early start for a course at Le Manoir. We were very jolly when we... More

I stayed at The Bat and Ball Inn for two nights in January 2012, as we were in Oxford for the weekend. I found our room to be very warm, welcome and comfortable on such a cold winter weekend in January. Evening meals and breakfasts were good with plenty of choice. We had a lovely quiet night’s sleep, and there’s... More

The Inn is in a lovely village location however do not follow Sat Nav as it may take you round the small roads (locally known as 'The Forties') and this adds a good 10 -15 miles to the journey. When I eventually found the Inn, I was pleasantly surprised at how welcoming it looked, however there is a very narrow... More

We stayed for one night while visiting Oxford and on arrival were pleased with the lovely location and warm cozy feel of the pub. The staff were really friendly, food was fine and the pub itself felt very welcoming. Unfortunately the stay was tainted a little by a bathroom with no heating, a toilet which did not flush well and... More
