Rooms are very basic. Especially the furniture is in dire straits . Also there is no tv. On the other hand the college is exquisite nostalgic history rich passages reminding on student times. Personnel (often students living and also working in the college) is extremely friendly and helpfull. But bottom line no value for money (night rate).

We - Three seniors - stayed in student rooms in the Quad ie inside the walls, of Magdalen College, Oxford in August 2012.Very beautiful college buildings and grounds. On the High Street so right in the heart of the city. The rooms are very basic ( furniture and fittings very old and well used and scruffy.) There is a fridge... More

Single room, shared bathroom, no sink in room (yet description on website says “most have sinks”). Mini-fridge (not sure it’s working well; it’s not very cool). Wi-fi included (unsecured). Mirror. Enough electrical outlets in room. Newish drapes. Room only, no breakfast. No hair-blower in room, but I borrowed one from the Porters’ Lodge. A heater is mentioned in the notes,... More

I stayed with a friend in a twin student room in the 1960s Waynflete Building - perfectly clean accommodation but generations of students have left it a bit tatty round the edges ! Possibly not ideal for a romantic weekend, but it was cheap and good value (£62 per night for the room). Decent towels and toiletries were provided (the... More

I booked this accommodation through another website and was pretty excited about it, based on the reviews I had seen and the fact that I had stayed in Oxford as a student at one of the colleges several years earlier. When we arrived at Magdalen though, I was disappointed that we would not be staying in the part of Magdalen... More

I stayed in the Waynflete building, a 1950's annex just across the river from the main part of Magdalen college. It's roughly a 10 minute walk to central Oxford, and just across the street from the Botanic Gardens. The room was old but clean, with a fantastically comfortable mattress. Bathrooms were likewise old but clean. The room was very large,... More

Magdalen College is one of the colleges at Oxford that offers accommodations during the summer and other university holidays. The accommodations are clean and comfortable. My room was a double and had 2 beds, 1 desk, closets, and a sink. There were also little toiletry packs (i.e. soap and shampoo) on the beds, and towels/linens were provided. Also it was... More
