Stayed one night - small room with lumpy mattress and cheap pillows. Shower head needs replacing. Bedside lamp not working. Had worst scrambled eggs ever served in the morning although coffee was fine. On the plus side, the room was quiet and the landlord was helpful in getting me connected to the internet. York is a pricey city in which... More

We stayed here for a 3 night holiday, travelling as a couple, and were very much taken by the location, having stayed a bit further out last February (at The Lighthorseman, which was fab) and found we spent more time walking back to the b&b than exploring! Absolutely loved location, rooms, real ale available at the bar, and the burger... More

Nice room with small en suite. Bit pricey for a pub but maybe that's the area. Pillows poor. Bar area and food good although it is a burger only menu. Problem was the pre ordered breakfast request , well we thought it was a request to help out but apparently it's not. No order form No breakfast.! Rules are rules... More

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at the Waggon and Horses. A traditional family owned and run pub/coaching inn serving a changing selection of real ales in a lovely atmosphere, a good mix of customers. The room was a reasonably good size, clean and comfy. The bathroom had one of the best hotel showers I have come across... More

We really enjoyed our stay here. A must for anyone who appreciates their real ales and a 'proper pub'. The staff and locals in the pub were really friendly and welcoming. The room was lovely, warm, clean, comfy and spacious. Breakfast was well cooked, relaxed and not served too early! It was the perfect place to stay for our trip... More

We stayed at the Wagon and Horse for 2 nights Bed and Breakfast which was excellent value for money, they did not do evening meals at the Pub, but you could take your own food in and they would supply the rest, which a lot seemed to do and it worked well. the Landlord was a great character. the room... We went to York for the Christmas market and stayed at The Waggon & Horses for 2 nights with our friends. I have to say that we have stayed there before and it has always been excellent! Paul & Mandy (the owners) are so welcoming, the hotel is in a perfect location and always clean, the bar is friendly, traditional... More

My room small but absolutely immaculate, and very quiet as was side facing. The bed was a bit lumpy but I no problem sleeping. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast very good and great value for money.

The room was small and standard but the pub downstairs was the reason we stayed, there must have been 10 real ales on. Good breakfast and friendly staff. Close to the city centre as it's just outside the city gate. I would stay again.
