Ten of us booked well in advance for this, our 2013 annual walking weekend and get-together. I have stayed in several Hostels across the UK and this has to be the best so far! The hostel building is part of the centuries old Abbey complex and is steeped in history. The buliding is very large, roomy and oozes character. The... More

Just spent a night here whilst walking the Cleveland Way. Its the second time we have stayed here in recent years. This is a hidden gem located high above the town. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very good value food. A fantastic secluded location. Clean tidy and value for money. Happy to look after bags after checkout whilst we explored... More

I arrived at YHA on the 18th of April with a school party from Kuwait. We've stayed for 5 nights. We have really enjoyed the place. The students have enjoyed playing in the back yard. YHA did cater to our needs as muslims and provided great food. The location is amazing and the staff was so friendly: ) Wish I... More

My wife and I only had 1 night here but thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had a four-bed room which was lovely and cosy and, we were informed, had 16th century panelling on the walls!! How many places can boast that!! Had a lovely view over Whitby from the window. Did not have an evening meal but purchased a drink... More

Thank you for the excellent feed back the staff really appreciate it when customers comment on their work. The panelling in the 16th century rooms are special, on you next visit you could try a victorian or georgian room. All 26 rooms are very different but all have some original feature in them. Thanks Again and we are all pleased... More

The hostel itself is in a wonderful spot, right next to the Abbey. The building is lovely and full of character, the staff are friendly and helpful, the whole place was clean and spacious and the beds are uncomfortable. Ah. It was going so well! Aside from the uncomfortable beds, it's difficult to find fault with this YHA. The communal... More
